the only really difference is an explosive start - after gojo v sukuna ch1 this is exactly what we got following until they came across a SG then stakes ramped this is a continuation and its harder to just go all in without feeling like a carbon copy of the previous storyline

I think you misremember JJK
Within the first 10 chapters we established Sukuna as the major villain, established the goal of the MC (collect all fingers and be executed), already had a small showcase of the strongest character on the good guy's side, introduced MC's main group (Megumi and Nobara), fought a special grade curse (the cursed womb), had the main villain showcase a glimpse of his power (Megumi vs Sukuna), we get introduced to the main villain group (Kenjaku and Disasters), and we get the intro into the Goodwill event (Todo and Mai)

Modulo is just bad in setting up any sort of interesting storyline. It relies on the IP and established villains (Sukuna) to blow hot air into the aliens.
