I don't usually write a long essay and rarely make One Piece theory, but this three weeks break just make me break my own principle. My English isn't good so just bare with me.
It is widely known that many mangas have taken inspiration from the fiction novel called Journey To The West. The novel is so popular, many ideas from the novel have then turn into whole different kind of stories. One Piece is no exception, it has taken so many references from the novel and I am going to talk about some of the
similarities that I have found. (There are so many abridged versions, so I will mention those that I feel they are similar)
Ryugu Kingdom - The Dragon Palace (novel)
The name Ryugu means dragon palace. It is a place where all the dragon king (azure dragon) and his fish demons live. Inside the palace contains a metal pillar that help capable of controlling the tides of the of the four seas (North, South, East, West). Wukong took the pillar and turned it into his weapon. In One Piece, princess Shirahoshi is the weapon instead. From what Shyarly has prophesized, It might be true that Luffy will destroy Fishman Island at the same time taking Princess Shirahoshi with him.
Impel Down - The Underworld (novel)
Wukong went to The Underworld a few times, he did something such as save someone by erasing their name from the death record.
This is similar to Luffy saving Ace from Impel Down. I believe Luffy will go to Impel Down again.
Mount Fuji - The Burning Mountain (novel)
Princess Iron Fan and Bull King were a couple and had a child. Their child picked a fight with Wukong. Princess Iron Fan tried to defend their child from Wukong and fell into The Burning Mountain. There were two outcome depends on novel's version. One is Princess Iron Fan died from magma, secondly is she was saved by a deity and become a good person. Princess Iron Fan and Bull King were actually friends of Wukong. They are meant to parallel Big Mom and Kaido fell into magma. I believe they will return to help Luffy.
Amazon Lily - The Kingdom of Women (novel)
Kingdom of Women found Monk Tang injured and treated him. As he recovered, the top ranks (leader, princess, general, etc.) fell in love with Monk Tang. The woman leader wanted to make him her queen, but he refused because monk cannot delve into love affair and he made a promised to complete the journey to the west. At the end, her love was not meant to be. This strikes a similarity to Boa Hancock and Luffy. Oda showed us two outcomes where Sakky found her true love and Gloriosa who didn't. As Luffy has never shown true love towards anyone, I think the result is the latter. I notice a character becomes beautiful if they receive love from others. The appearance of Shakky and Gloriosa is so drastically different. Another example is how Boa Hancock is most beautiful among her sisters. I wonder is it because of the power of the DF. I think for one lover being alive also contribute to the beautiful factor. This lead me thinking Gloriosa left Kuja for her love towards Rocks. Her beauty degradation is due to the fact her lover is dead. Also I swear these D members don't know true love.
Laugh Tale - India (novel)
Wukong started the journey from capital of China, they went to India to retrieve the Buddhist scriptures. The place is called Daleiyin Temple, it is located on top of a spiritual mountain. They need to cross a wide and fast flowing river to reach the mountain. There are different versions of how Wukong crossed the river. First one is a deity disguised as a commoner with a bottomless boat to helped them crossed the river. Secondly is they ride a on the back of a turtle demon. Thirdly is Wukong transform into a giant, he carried the rest and crossed the river in one leap. At the temple, Great Buddha transformed their demon form into monk form and gave each of them a title. Then they brought the scriptures back to the capital of China.
I guess one piece island is protected by strong sea currents, that is why no one can reach the place by normal sailing. Probably on top of a mountain. One piece should consists the poneglyph of world history and some sort of power ups. I am throwing my wild shots here. The island was probably sent into another dimension like how Brulee has this entire new dimension of mirror world. Or based on popular theory, it just simply sunk under the ocean which actually makes more sense because Onigashima is now submerged in chapter 1109 cover story. Or shrunk into mini size and kept inside a safe that requires a key to open, the shrinking idea is because it's part of Wukong's ability. Another theory of mine is Roger pirates never saw the ancient kingdom, if they actually saw it they would be overwhelmed and thinking message is plausible not laughing out loud. Joyboy hid every single buildings underground and only left a switch which is the one piece left on the ground, and only Nika power can activate it. Sengoku might play a role at One Piece because he has the Great Buddha DF.
Daleiyin can translates as loud thunder sounds. Remember Urouge the mad monk reached Raijin island that is raining down lightning then a creepy grandma row a boat towards them? It could be a reference to the novel. On this same manga panel, the narrator said "Every hardened warrior who sets foot in the new world even once describes the first half of the grand line the same way. That part of the sea was paradise". Which tell us that the first half (finding the one piece) was paradise, the second half (after finding the one piece) is hell. This indicates the great war Oda was talking about will begin after Luffy found the one piece.
Mariejois - Heaven (novel)
In the novel, the Heaven is located above the sky/cloud, it is literally Skypiea. It is like a palace on cloud lived by Gods/Deities structured by monarchy system.
Wukong was a menace causing havoc on the heaven which angered the king. The king declared war with Wukong, the heaven army vs Wukong's monkey army.
Wukong's monkey army of course no match against the heaven army. Heaven army threatened Wukong with the life of monkeys that led to Wukong yield. The king ordered them to execute the Wukong but the blade broke. They decided to boil him to death by using artifact but instead he devour the artifact and gain ability to detect disguise.
I think Luffy will go to Mariejois and steal the big strawhat because at this point he had returned his strawhat back to Shanks. The big strawhat is probably created by ancient technology and indestructible that is why Imu kept it in her safe. If Luffy manage to take it, it may grant Luffy a power up.
The number of Gorosei is based on The 5 Elders (五方五老）. Just like the gorosei, they have their own planets, directions, colors, and etc..
Amount five of them, one is stated to be stronger than the rest which is Saturn. I believe Saturn is actually strongest gorosei, if not it will be one of them.
Have you wonder why Oda follow this structure that each crew has 4 top fighters, for the leader is the strongest, followed by 3 similar powers? For example Luffy/Kaido/BigMom is the strongest also has the highest bounty. Their commanders are closer to each other strength and have bounty not very far apart.
This is because Oda copy the power scaling of the 4 pilgrims from Journey To The West. Wukong being the strongest, Bajie and Wujing being same power but weaker than Wukong, and Monk Tang being the weakest. If Oda apply the power scaling of 5 Elders pattern on Gorosei which means one of the Gorosei is the strongest.
Now this is something I found out after I discovered the theory about Mihawk being former God's Knight. This will make 8 of them. The number 8 remind me of a group in heaven called 8 deities (八仙). They have pretty strong magics (not as strong as 5 Elders) and each of them has their own special quirk (god's artifacts). I am not sure if Oda actually copy this structure, so I just let it drifts for now.
Void Century War
Wukong has a mortal enemy which is a monkey called (通臂猿猴） basically means monkey with stretchy arm. He was sort of like a doppelganger of Wukong. Let's call him Doppel. The queen (a snake demon) of the demon kingdom felt in love for doppel, she resurrected doppel by passing some of her thousand years of demonic essence. Doppel tried to do what he used to do help people and kill bad demons except his work is outshined by Wukong. Jealousy quickly grew within him. One day, Doppel challenge Wukong for a duel. If Doppel wins, he will replace Wukong in their journey to the west. Of course Doppel lost that fight. The snake demon felt bad for Doppel. In order to beat Wukong, she proposed to transfer the rest of her demonic essence to Doppel. Doppel accepted it and became the most powerful demon in the world. It caused a lightning striked through the heaven down to earth and to hell. To ensure 100% win chance, Doppel's senior trainee (older demon used to train together) adviced Doppel to absorb more powerful demons. Doppel agreed so he absorbed all Wukong's friends such as Elephant Demon (Zunisha?), Bull King Demon (Kaido), Princess Iron Fan (Big Mom), Lion Demon, Crow Demon, Spider Demon, Skeleton Demon. Due to Jealousy, Doppel even copied Wukong by stealing a similar weapon from Dragon King Palace. Doppel became so powerful that he finally seek Wukong for a rematch. As expected, Wukong got completely outmatched. So as promised, Doppel replaced Wukong for the journey. To simplified it further. Wukong trained hard and killed Doppel. Snake demon was angry, she promised to avenge Doppel but realized she stood no chance. Wukong's power and allies are not something Snake Demon can overcome. So Snake Demon used an artifact to mind control Wukong's allies, turning them against Wukong. This caused Wukong's friends died. Snake Demon also used Wukong's friends to frame Wukong of killing Dragon King, bringing Wukong's saint figure to a brink. The heaven handed out death punishment to Wukong. In the end, Wukong able to convince Snake Demon to stop the act, then everything back to normal and the journey continue.
Now the real void century theory starts here. Robin has said Fools who don't respect the past are doomed to repeat it. This quote holds very true until this day, or more precisely the void century is repeating. From time to time, Joyboy was mentioned as a savior by many people, but feared among the celestial dragons. The fight between Luffy and Gorosei on Egghead show how they couldn't do anything to Luffy. The Joyboy in void century wasn't killed by anyone from the celestial dragons, it was by a group of D members who also has the same will of Blackbeard.
Doflamingo once said something about D members "who will aid who, who will betray who". It becomes very apparent during Wano arc and now Egghead. Orochi team up with outsider force (Kaido) to kill Shoguns and Daimyos. In Egghead, York team up with outsider force (Celestial Dragon and CP0) to eliminate other satellites. Greed satellite successfully killed two other satellites, she ordered S-snake to blew up wisdom satellite and put a bullet on good satellite by herself. Greed satellite being Blackbeard and good satellite being Luffy.
Edit: Miss Golden Week's paint art had given us the hint. Her black art called "Black Betrayal" which the colour represents Blackbeard.
The important example is Blackbeard only hunts D members. Time and time again, the story keep showing us Blackbeard going after another people with D in it's name. He once said everything is bound by fate. First he was trying to take Luffy bounty after learning he worth 100 millions. Secondly he beat Ace and hand it to the World Government. Thirdly he went to revolutionary headquarter for weapons which the leader is Dragon. Not long ago, he went for Law's Poneglyph copies. Recently due to fate, Garp went to Blackbeard turf and got captured by his crew.
All D members was not killed by anyone or the Celestial Dragons because D members are their mortal enemies. Except Roger gaveup because he knew he was going to die to a decease, and Ace who is handed by Blackbeard. As I said the history is repeating itself, what happened during the stories resemble what happened in the void century. During the void century, something similar happened, A group of evil D members killed the good D members with the help from the 20 kingdoms.
I think family name Rocks and Marshall belong to the same evil D group which share the same ambition of become king of the world. This tell us Blackbeard is a supporter of monarchy system which is a direct opposite idealogy of the good D members, but completely align with the ideology of the 20 kingdoms. I believe Blackbeard knew partial of the void history. In order to for Luffy to stop this yet another grave tragedy from happening, he must find the One Piece, and learn the history of void century.
Another evidence is by observing the color from 5 Elders (五方五老) that I have memtioned above. The 5 colours are Yellow, Greend, Red, Black, and White. Then by observing the colors of admirals and vice admirals, there are Kizaru(yellow monkey), Ryokugyū(green bull), Akainu(red dog), and Black Arm Zephyr (black). There is no white colour.
Black Arm Zephyr was once a supreme commander quit his role and later killed by marine (Kizaru dealt a lot of light damage on him). Now makes the WG without the colors white and black. This becomes a bit poetic saying the World Government don't know how to identify what is good or bad. Their actions actually justify itself. World Government getting rid of Black Arm Zephyr are a parallel to Kaido kills Orochi and Gorosei kills York. Thus bring the idea of the 20 kingdoms eliminated the group of evil D members when they were deemed no longer useful. I think 20 kingdoms were using ancient weapon Uranus to kill them because of light and darkness relationship, laser of that scale is much powerful than DF.
In the manga panel showing torned poster of Luffy, Blackbeard, and Shirahoshi. The Gorosei view them as a threat, but they only go after Luffy the Joyboy because he is a threats towards their monarchy reign and most importantly they cannot beat Joyboy without the blackbeard (evil D member). Blackbeard know Luffy is Joyboy and he also know The Celestial Dragon cannot defeat Luffy. Basically Blackbeard is letting Luffy getting rid of the obstacles, he knows Luffy is going to defeat Kaido, and he know Luffy is going to defeat the celestial dragon. Like usual, Blackbeard is waiting to swoop the one piece by defeating Luffy at the end.
Joyboy's friends and fleets
I think we can see what Joyboy's friends and fleets look like since the history is repeating itself. His fleets were similar to the eggheads, they are the giants, buccaneers, and lunarians. He also had Zunisha (elephant demon), ancient giant robot (old bull king demon), Marco (bird demon), Thousand Sunny (lion demon), and all the past friends and former enemies.
I think the celestial dragons are trying to recreate Joyboy's fleet, a bunch of giants, Buccaneers, and Lunarians. I believe the way to defeat them is through deception, turning their allies against them. Remember the tale of Ryuma slayed a dragon? I think the the dragon is the Shogun and he had the same devil fruit as Kaido. He was probably a friend of Joyboy and got deceit by the evil D members into fighting against Joyboy.
What will happen next?
This is my prediction of what is going to happened after Egghead. I think Blackbeard is going to take Pluton and Poseidon because he need them to destroy the world. There is already a theory about why Blackbeard is going after Pluton. So I will say how Blackbeard can obtain Poseidon. I think it won't be an easy task to obtain Poseidon because Poseidon is protected by sea kings and Blackbeard crew is full of devil fruit users. Any slight mistake will be the fall of blackbeard pirates. From what I mentioned in the novel, snake demon used mind control to turn Wukong's allies against him. And also Shyarly's prophecy stated that Luffy will destroy Fishman Island. So I guess Devon will copy Luffy's face, and use it to destroy Fishman Island. The fishmen have no choice to escape up land by riding noah. Blackbeard will then take the opportunity to kidnapp Shirahoshi on the surface. This will probably happens before Luffy find the one piece. I'm not quite sure how the claiming of one piece will play out, but I think the world war will begin at the last voyage to the one piece or after finding the one piece.
I believe Blackbeard is the strongest opponent that he will ever face. If you have read the novel's doppelganger part, this makes Blackbeard a evil doppelganger of Luffy. He doesn't have giant armies, but he can have Wolf turns everyone in giants. He doesn't have buccaneer and Lunarians armies, but Devon can use Saturn's face or hypnotize Bonney to gain control of the Pacifistas and Seraphims. Anything he doesn't have, he can steal them or mimic it. He may not have lots of allies all over the world, but he can deceit people turning Luffy's allies against him.
That is all about my theory. Of course it won't be exact the same as how the story play out, it may be completely different. What do you think about my theory.

One thing I need to mention is the white horse rid by Monk Tang. It was a white azure dragon king until he committed crime and being punished by the heaven. In order to redeem his sin, Guanyin transformed him into a white horse and aid Monk Tang in his journey. He will remain as a white horse until he fulfil his promise helping Monk Tang to reach Daleiyin Temple. Dr. Q is one of the few characters in One Piece who is riding a white horse, and it ate a Pegasus devil fruit. However there is no indication it was a human, unlike Hattori who can talk.
800 Years?
Why Oda choose the number 800 for the prophecy arrival of Joyboy? Based on the novel Wukong was 300 years old, and he was imprisoned for 500 years before Monk Tang came to free him. Adding them up you get 800 years which was Wukong's age. It is just a reference number from the novel. Oda may be using this number and piece it up with other stories.

He once said everything is bound by fate. First he was trying to take Luffy bounty after learning he worth 100 millions. Secondly he beat Ace and hand it to the World Government. Thirdly he went to revolutionary headquarter for weapons which the leader is Dragon. Not long ago, he went for Law's Poneglyph copies. Recently due to fate, Garp went to Blackbeard turf and got captured by his crew.
All D members was not killed by anyone or the Celestial Dragons because D members are their mortal enemies. Except Roger gaveup because he knew he was going to die to a decease, and Ace who is handed by Blackbeard. As I said the history is repeating itself, what happened during the stories resemble what happened in the void century. During the void century, something similar happened, A group of evil D members killed the good D members with the help from the 20 kingdoms.
I think family name Rocks and Marshall belong to the same evil D group which share the same ambition of become king of the world. This tell us Blackbeard is a supporter of monarchy system which is a direct opposite idealogy of the good D members, but completely align with the ideology of the 20 kingdoms. I believe Blackbeard knew partial of the void history. In order to for Luffy to stop this yet another grave tragedy from happening, he must find the One Piece, and learn the history of void century.
Another evidence is by observing the color from 5 Elders (五方五老) that I have memtioned above. The 5 colours are Yellow, Greend, Red, Black, and White. Then by observing the colors of admirals and vice admirals, there are Kizaru(yellow monkey), Ryokugyū(green bull), Akainu(red dog), and Black Arm Zephyr (black). There is no white colour.
Black Arm Zephyr was once a supreme commander quit his role and later killed by marine (Kizaru dealt a lot of light damage on him). Now makes the WG without the colors white and black. This becomes a bit poetic saying the World Government don't know how to identify what is good or bad. Their actions actually justify itself. World Government getting rid of Black Arm Zephyr are a parallel to Kaido kills Orochi and Gorosei kills York. Thus bring the idea of the 20 kingdoms eliminated the group of evil D members when they were deemed no longer useful. I think 20 kingdoms were using ancient weapon Uranus to kill them because of light and darkness relationship, laser of that scale is much powerful than DF.
In the manga panel showing torned poster of Luffy, Blackbeard, and Shirahoshi. The Gorosei view them as a threat, but they only go after Luffy the Joyboy because he is a threats towards their monarchy reign and most importantly they cannot beat Joyboy without the blackbeard (evil D member). Blackbeard know Luffy is Joyboy and he also know The Celestial Dragon cannot defeat Luffy. Basically Blackbeard is letting Luffy getting rid of the obstacles, he knows Luffy is going to defeat Kaido, and he know Luffy is going to defeat the celestial dragon. Like usual, Blackbeard is waiting to swoop the one piece by defeating Luffy at the end.
Joyboy's friends and fleets
I think we can see what Joyboy's friends and fleets look like since the history is repeating itself. His fleets were similar to the eggheads, they are the giants, buccaneers, and lunarians. He also had Zunisha (elephant demon), ancient giant robot (old bull king demon), Marco (bird demon), Thousand Sunny (lion demon), and all the past friends and former enemies.
I think the celestial dragons are trying to recreate Joyboy's fleet, a bunch of giants, Buccaneers, and Lunarians. I believe the way to defeat them is through deception, turning their allies against them. Remember the tale of Ryuma slayed a dragon? I think the the dragon is the Shogun and he had the same devil fruit as Kaido. He was probably a friend of Joyboy and got deceit by the evil D members into fighting against Joyboy.
What will happen next?
This is my prediction of what is going to happened after Egghead. I think Blackbeard is going to take Pluton and Poseidon because he need them to destroy the world. There is already a theory about why Blackbeard is going after Pluton. So I will say how Blackbeard can obtain Poseidon. I think it won't be an easy task to obtain Poseidon because Poseidon is protected by sea kings and Blackbeard crew is full of devil fruit users. Any slight mistake will be the fall of blackbeard pirates. From what I mentioned in the novel, snake demon used mind control to turn Wukong's allies against him. And also Shyarly's prophecy stated that Luffy will destroy Fishman Island. So I guess Devon will copy Luffy's face, and use it to destroy Fishman Island. The fishmen have no choice to escape up land by riding noah. Blackbeard will then take the opportunity to kidnapp Shirahoshi on the surface. This will probably happens before Luffy find the one piece. I'm not quite sure how the claiming of one piece will play out, but I think the world war will begin at the last voyage to the one piece or after finding the one piece.
I believe Blackbeard is the strongest opponent that he will ever face. If you have read the novel's doppelganger part, this makes Blackbeard a evil doppelganger of Luffy. He doesn't have giant armies, but he can have Wolf turns everyone in giants. He doesn't have buccaneer and Lunarians armies, but Devon can use Saturn's face or hypnotize Bonney to gain control of the Pacifistas and Seraphims. Anything he doesn't have, he can steal them or mimic it. He may not have lots of allies all over the world, but he can deceit people turning Luffy's allies against him.
That is all about my theory. Of course it won't be exact the same as how the story play out, it may be completely different. What do you think about my theory.

Wukong Power
Wukong is a very powerful monkey demon. Here is a list of Wukong power.
- Ageless/eternity life, he ate 3 foods that each of them grant him eternal life. (Luffy will die if he kept using his DF power, Law is the one to perform ageless surgery on Luffy to save his life)
- Tough body that tougher than blade (sanji broke Queen's sword)
- Fiery eye that can see through disguise
- Magical staff (Nami has a similar staff)
- Nimbus cloud (Nami has a similar Zeus cloud)
- 72 transformation magics (It's similar Nika's power, he can enlarge, shrink, stretch, disguise, basically anything.
Monk Tang's White Horse
One thing I need to mention is the white horse rid by Monk Tang. It was a white azure dragon king until he committed crime and being punished by the heaven. In order to redeem his sin, Guanyin transformed him into a white horse and aid Monk Tang in his journey. He will remain as a white horse until he fulfil his promise helping Monk Tang to reach Daleiyin Temple. Dr. Q is one of the few characters in One Piece who is riding a white horse, and it ate a Pegasus devil fruit. However there is no indication it was a human, unlike Hattori who can talk.
800 Years?
Why Oda choose the number 800 for the prophecy arrival of Joyboy? Based on the novel Wukong was 300 years old, and he was imprisoned for 500 years before Monk Tang came to free him. Adding them up you get 800 years which was Wukong's age. It is just a reference number from the novel. Oda may be using this number and piece it up with other stories.
