I think Nika, JB, and Luffy each are different sizes to represent the gradual change of the ages, from golden to silver and now bronze. So Nika is a giant, Luffy a short human, and JB will land somewhere in the middle, either as a buccaneer or some giant hybrid like that weird dude on Foxy's crew.
