Not a huge fan of the episode

Geto vs Toji had weird moments with the blue laser/curse beam everywhere

Same for the Toji vs Gojo

it wasn’t raw enough

the art style of the season doesn’t help

That's been my copium as well lol
"Surely this is just the style for this flashback..."
Given what we saw for the character design for part 2 this will be the same for Shibuya

S1 art style worked better for JJK raw style

Yeah, it gives off flash back vibes.

Like characters are in Infinite Tsukuyomi. In comparison, in S1 characters appeared more menacing, real/raw, showing emotions, facial expressions, etc, like Rayan said.

I will give it a chance till Shibuya, if it does not improve; sorry it is really mid.

Not a huge fan of this episode. Still, I have hope for the rest of the season.
Where did you get that ass translation? The sub I watched is the same as the manga.

preferred S1 animation. You pointed earlier about the creamy texture (?). Like Toji said, something feels off
I agree 100%. I don’t understand why they changed the animation style. It was way better. I guess they want to safe money and know it will be a success anyway now.

Anime only here.
Toji says he doesn't have cursed energy and that's why he can't be detected right? How does he control and sees the cursed spirit then?

Isn't he supposed to be basically like maki then? She uses the glasses to see them but doesn't have any energy...

I could tell you but I believe that's about to be explained in the next episode. So will you wait or should I tell you lol?

As many think the flashback art style is supposed to illustrate these times' airness/lightness in order to contrast with the incoming timeskip (especially Shibuya).

Gojo and Geto were the strongests in a threatless and smooth world.

Hence the smooth and colorful art style, I guess.

Toji's senses are so sharp that he can feel any perturbations around him, including those caused by cursed spirits in the actual environment. He doesn't see them, but he can precisely feel their presence due to the tiniest perturbations they cause in their surroundings.

Season 1 Maki hasn't this ability.

Comparing S1 animation to S2:

S1:

S2:

At first glance, it seems the brightness was at 70% in S1 and in S2 to it is increased to 150-200% 👈

Overall, the flow of movements seems better in S2 (frame rate?). Maybe, the manga panels were just that good and it is not possible to replicate the same "feel".

My only issue is the increased brightness or unnecessary glow.
Hollow Purple was not completely shown, maybe that's why it feels off (to me at least).

@lee33 @NikaInParis @Sebastian Michaelis Thoughts?

The animation itself is way better in S2 ofc, because of a bigger budget

But the art style was superior in S1 whichever way you cut it. It was the manga brought to life

Well, once again I think it's all about highlighting the contrast between the carefree teen Gojo and his grave/serious adult version.

Gojo will become Gojo after killing Geto (no spoils here, JJK 0 movie) and taking his former mindset/philosophy of life.

I guess.

Lmao I thought, judging by the name, it was a JJK spoof but it's a legit series

I'll keep it in mind after I'm done with Bungo Stray Dogs
Yes, it aired before JJK!
It came to my mind because JJK S1 animation is somewhat similar to Juuni Taisen.
BSD is also awesome, especially the S1!
I am 100% confident that Light recommended BSD to you 😂
