It has got to be the most overhated arc. The comedy was at its peak, the stakes were extremely high (some straw hats were literally seconds away from dying) and has a great conclusion. So why is it so hated?

I think it's one the best arc and only a certain group hates that arc.
As you said comedy was too good. Moria and his crew were lame but Oars and Ryuma were too good. Of course Kuma's présence was giving bad vibes.

The most overhated by the majority till now is probably alabasta or skypeia for pre-skip.
Maybe too long ? But I enjoyed all those arcs ngl.

At the time it was hated because it came right after Enies Lobby,so it had to compete with the fresh memory of the best arc in OP history. Also,i think the "Halloween" vibe of the arc can be very divisive,you love it or hate it that kind of vibe. Another flaw is Moria,not a great villain imho. But,looking at Thriller Bark now,we can say it aged well. Like you said there was big tension,probably bigger than in Wano.

Like the guy above said, it was hated because people always want to see everything immediately, and post EL had Ace vs BB, Shanks vs WB and so forth, and then something completely new and more lighthearted came around.
I think Oda wanted to have something fun between the drama of W7 and Shabondy,ID and Marineford

I don't hate it but it had pacing issues, the villain was wack, and felt largely inconsequential for the most part compared to Ennies Lobby.

I guess the main issues with Thriller Bark is how Kuma outshine Moriah and how Jinbei makes Moriah dirty at Marineford later on.

But your arguments are a bit out of reality. Only Luffy, Brook and Zoro was near death at that arc. Maybe Franky?

We did a poll here or in oj few years ago and the résults were saying skypeia and alabasta were the worst so i don't smoke, not good for health.
