The reason Kaido didn't awaken is because he's already a dawdler drunkard on suicide watch, if he awakened he'd lose his barely existing consciousness and become a simpelton beast like the Impel Down jailers.
Lucci is a stoic assassin who's redeemed as a prodigy even among geniuses, he can control these simple urges through haki.
If they were awakened it would've been mentioned the same way it was highlighted for Lucci

Yamato is not awakened. Her hagoromo is because her fruit is a god animal hence why it’s in her full zoan and hybrid form. She has no awakening form (Hagoromo was also featured on Luffys Gear 4 forms so it’s not always an indicator for awakening but an indicator for the fruit being a god fruit)
Kaido is not awakened. He never showed any awakening form, he just changed up his hybrid form a little bit. It’s more like Choppers point.
2. Jailer Beasts are failures. Their minds are completely gone so they can’t truly awaken their fruits.
Yamato and Kaido just focused so much on haki they treat their devil fruit as an amplifier and never tried to expand their powers.

Neither are awakened. If they would be, if we use how Luffy's mythical zoan awakening works as basis, then Kaido should have some form of environmental control. Formations of flaming clouds, alter the shape/size of his kanabo by applying flaming cloud properties. Imbue it with flaming clouds and do attacks with it similar to how blazing bagua works, but on an object that changes shape/size.
How he would look like - similar features Lucci got. Dragon scales completely covering his chest/abs like Lucci's fur covers it. Flaming clouds of his dragon form coming from his arms and that aura surrounding him similar to Luffy/Lucci.
Similarly the case with Yamato not being awakened.

No oda always makes it extremely clear when awakening abilities are being used. It just imo oda made kaido already a monster and having him be able to reach another level when Luffy was already at his peak would have made it bullshit if Luffy still won. Yamato I don't think has awakening even Luffy has a smoke ring in g4 doesn't mean it's awakening. But I do think if push comes to shove oda will just retroactively call some of their abilities awakening.

Oda "subverted our expectations" by not giving awakenings to the Beast Pirates and Yamato, to not either Yonko and not giving King, "King's Haki" or Conqueror's too.
I really want to believe they were awakened and didn't get insulted this badly by Oda but I'm sure he would have stated that they are awakened, as he has done to Lucci.
The glaring discrepancies with the Awakened Zoan Jailer Guards really isn't helping either, I never expected Awakened Zoans to cause so much confusion and headaches, I expected Logias to be most problematic potentially but alas...
Kaido and Yamato should be awakened at least given what we know about awakenings but there's so much confusion with awakenings for Zoans, for both Mythical and Regular ones now, never mind Ancient Zoans who haven't had an awakening yet at all! Unless Oda is gonna retcon Luccis DF too and make him a freaking Mythical Zoan too, hence why he resembles them in Awakened Form?
This is such an incredible mess, when it could have been so simple, great job Oda.
He could have just said Kaido is awakened and Luffy with his past experiences with the Awakened Zoan Jailer Guards (Awaken my Zoans, Aiyaiyaiyaiyai *Mayan Egyptian Dubstep plays*), including an appropriate flashback to remind us too and parallel it with this moment, would have remembered what they were like and how unstoppable they were to deal with and realising that Kaido is not only a Mythical Zoan but also the Worlds Strongest Creature/Pirate and a Yonko, would have realised that he can't simply beat Kaido down and expect him to stay down, to give up, to remain unconscious, he will keep coming like a truly unstoppable juggernaut, the biggest one out there!
So he would have resorted to killing Kaido instead, which he actually did by yeeting him into the volcano,, even as he said before he did it, that he was gonna send to Kaido to hell too IIRC?
Oda is gonna need some amazing retcons/excuses to justify Kaido and Big Mom weren't awakened at least, never mind the most of the Yonko Commanders especially King at least and maybe Jack too and also Yamato too definitely.
Or maybe Kaido and Big Mom aren't actually dead, given Odas new habits of giving almost everyone death fakeouts and retcons now. Wouldn't put it past him to BS a way for both of them to come back and maybe, just maybe, with the slimmest of hopes, we could still see confirmed awakenings for them but I doubt it too sadly.
In some ways it does feel like Oda is doing this to spite us, not giving awakenings to any of the Beast Pirates. Kaidos incredible Beast Army was some fucking Wish.com Zoan nightware wannabes, full on Island of Dr Moreau shit but giving his fucking pet/MC he loves way too much beyond healthy reasons a Mythical Zoan awakening instead after making the biggest, longest retcon of the entire series so far! (At that point)
Its absolutely incredible and infuriating how he handled a Yonko crew and the "strongest military force" aside from the WG and Marines maybe and thus maybe the "strongest crew" or at least most durable/highest stamina etc. This is either too much improvisation/lack of planning and thus oversight, sheer incompetence or even deliberate malice on his part.
Regardless of the reasoning/level of intentionand whatever, Oda played most us like fiddles, he pranked/trolled us hard and after 4 years of that ridiculous Hell that was Wano, this is what he has to show for it?
No wonder Kaido was suicidal/depressed/alcoholic! Jeez...He really rubbed it in our faces by also retconning Luffys DF and making him not only a Mythical Zoan but awaken it too because of KAIDO and Kaido killing him at that too!
I've seen some extreme asspulls in my time, like Ichigo vs Ulquoirra and Naruto had plenty of them too, not to mention Fairy Tail but my god, retconning the main character's DF entirely after 25 years of gaslighting us, GG WP Oda! Bravo! Bellissimo! We Stan our Goda!
Kaido, the Beast Pirates, Yamato, Big Mom etc all deserved much better. But Sadist D Oda clearly thought otherwise.
