As the DataBook explains, Kamui shuriken's Kamui effect doesn't only take place when it explodes into a large space barrier that warps everything in range to the Kamui dimension, but it essentially wraps the parts that it cuts to Kamui dimension as it moves forward which makes it able to slice through anything too. that explains its dark color too as light doesn't reflect off these shurikens. That means it can't be possibly blocked by any physical object and evading it is too difficult not only because of their number but also because the area of effect can be extended. Kakashi can also use these shurikens to teleport his own Susano if needed by making it transform into the large space barrier while it is still in Susano's hands then come back from kamui dimension using another shuriken. also if needed, the same Kamui fusion technique mobdro kodi can be applied to Susano's sword as it is just another Susano weapon.
