As i've posted recently several times, Luffy being the sun god necessitates that Teach be his final antagonist. Teach is the darkness and the symbolism is simply too strong for him to be just another stepping stone for Luffy.
So if Luffy fights teach in the final war, what about Imu? Well Oda has a habit of giving the rival captains the 2nd most relevant fight of the arc.
Law is a D and he's the only D apart from Luffy who we really follow through the series. More than that he has the ope ope no mi and in dressrosa, Doffy made an intriguing statement about the ope ope no mi.
In chapter 761, doffy reveals that mariejois has a treasure and that the existence of this treasure would shake the world to its core. Doffy then goes to say that if he had the ope ope no mi, he would have been able to use the treasure to control the world. After which he talks about how valuable the ope ope no mi is especially because it can grant immortality.
Then in chapter 906 we hear about this treasure again. In the final page of the chapter, we see Imu visit the giant straw hat while Doffy talks about how the WG wants an assassin to kill him so he doesn't reveal the treasure. Imo this is a clear indication that the treasure Doffy was talking about is Imu. The WG is supposedly an oligarchical republic where the 5 gorosei supposedly control the world. There is not supposed to be a king of the WG. However there is, that being Imu. Therefore the existence of Imu would shake the world to its core. I don't see how the hat could possibly be more relevant.
Anyways, I believe that Imu has immortality and that the ope ope no mi both gave him this power and has the ability to undo it. Which is why Law, along with Kid(because Oda always pairs them up), will be the ones to bring him down.
