Marines are not the entire WG Army. Dragon is going to take part in a war that’ll involve the entire WG Army, so the leader will have to be included.
He was a former Marine but he still didn't show up. And the WG also did show up except for the Gorosei.

It's possible they felt his presence was not urgent but that's weak as an argument.

He needed to take care of the CP agents and defend Mariejoa.

Pirates are a marines issue. He’s not a marine anymore

I’ll be surprised if Kid and Law do anything noteworthy again in the series, let alone take down the leader of the Worst Gen.

That’s a job for Luffy, Blackbeard or Dragon.
Law is obviously going to be a final war character, might even perform the surgery there

Law will be in the final war along with pretty much every character in the series, I’ve not got much reason to think he’ll do anything important in it. His story was done with Dressrosa and Doflamingo. Law’s search for the meaning of D is just a discount version of Robin’s plot, one where he has to rely on Robin to do all the actual work for him.

And I don’t expect Oda to kill Law off, so I expect the surgery to be something that another character has done in the past, not something he’ll do in the future.

He’s never been linked with Blackbeard, he’s never expressed any revolutionary urges to put him at odds with Imu. Luffy, Dragon and Blackbeard are all D’s that are more important than him.

That's a really lame way to put his dream. Robin has very little connection to the D name and Luffy doesn't care, so it makes sense to have someone who's really invested care to learn it.

I don't think he will die either but I can see Oda teasing it with Law attempting to do it and Luffy declining it via VOAT. That's the "big" moment I'm thinking of.

Everybody though Law would die in Wano because they didn't think he had anything else to do, Oda could easily make him care about taking down the WG once he learns the truth about his name.

I can see Law giving up his life to make someone immortal if we are on about next super duper feats for this man, but even that looks far fetched as a scenario for now objectively.

Lame or not, it is what it is.

Law’s dream will be achieved as a byproduct of Robin’s dream. Which is of itself something that will be achieved as a byproduct of Luffy’s dream. It’s utterly subsumed by the adventures of the Strawhat Pirates. At least with Robin she is (so far) the only person in the world who can actually achieve her dream and in doing so will make it possible for Luffy to do his. Lawā€˜s essentially just a bystander to his own dream- the second time this has happened to him, since Oda wouldn’t even let him beat Doflamingo.

And Robin is very connected to the D name, thanks to Saul. It’s why she saved Luffy way back in Alabasta. She’s as invested as he is in finding the truth, because she knows it all ties to why her people were wiped out. Saul was only a D because Oda needed to tie one in to Robin, as further set up for her dream and relationship with Luffy.

Everybody though Law would die in Wano because they didn't think he had anything else to do, Oda could easily make him care about taking down the WG once he learns the truth about his name.
Anyone who thought Law would die here knows nothing about One Piece lol.

Yeah, after Law finds out what D means- from someone else- he probably will want to take on the World Gov.

But that doesn’t make him unique, or special. Dragon’s been wanting to take down the World Gov for decades, and he didn’t need to go to Laugh Tale to want it. He’s Luffy’s father, been in the series since chapter 100, been waiting in the wings for all this time. If anyone gets to take down Im along with or instead of Luffy it’s him.

Or if not Dragon, then Blackbeard, to set him up as final villain. Or even Shanks if he turns out to be a D as well.

I mean they are the MCs, Law isn't. Unless Law joins and becomes an active participant with them his learning will be a byproduct of what the SHs do.

I've never said she isn't interested nor connected, but her overall goal is learning all of the void century and her flashback is mainly tied to that. Law is specifically interested in why his name leads to a troubled fate and why Corazon had a heart change after learning his name. It's also different that Robin because after learning the truth Robin will likely not do much, we expect Law to come to a conclusion and take action. That's why I said he's the one invested in it and not her.

The reasons why he decides to do it could be unique. Again Law could just be there for the surgery aspect. You could have Law fight someone else and arrive to the battle to save Luffy.

This is exactly why I have no real expectations for him.

I can’t see Law’s dream as anything other than Robin’s dream, but worse.

The history of the D is a fundamental part of Robin’s dream, because it’s a fundamental part of the Void Century. It’s not some byproduct of finding out what the Void Century was.
It's also different that Robin because after learning the truth Robin will likely not do much, we expect Law to come to a conclusion and take action. That's why I said he's the one invested in it and not her.
Yeah, this is just fanboyism.

Why exactly should we think Robin, the one who will actually find out the truth about the Void Century, the one called the Light of the Revolution, the one the World Gov have been desperate to capture since she was a child, the one that Rayleigh said may come to a different conclusion to the Roger Pirates… will just find out what happened in the Void Century, do nothing important with the information and it’ll instead somehow be used to push Law into the limelight?

Law already hates the World Gov. Has done since he was a kid. If he didn’t go against them after they murdered everyone he loved, he’s not going to suddenly turn into Dragon 2.0 because of what happened to his ancestors hundreds of years ago.

Robin’s going to reveal to the world the truth of what happened in the past- fulfilling Ohara’s legacy- and itā€˜ll spark a worldwide revolt against the World Gov that end in their downfall. That’s how Ohara ends up winning. What she does with the truth is far more important than Law apparently deciding to fight against people he should have been fighting since he was a kid.

The history of the D is tied into her dream but it's not her dream. It's also stated in Oden's flashback that they are two separate things.

It's similar to how I see the connection between Nami's dream, Franky's and Luffy. They all want to get to Laugh Tale and by getting to Laugh Tale all "sort" of complete their dream. Just like once Robin learns the history, both her and Law will complete theirs

Yeah, this is just fanboyism.

Because it's simple, she's tied to Luffy and the Straw Hats. Even if Law ends up going with them we expect him to have some sort of independency that she doesn't have. He will either try to steer Luffy or leave on his own.

Law already hates the World Gov. Has done since he was a kid. If he didn’t go against them after they murdered everyone he loved, he’s not going to suddenly turn into Dragon 2.0 because of what happened to his ancestors hundreds of years ago.

Law is not actively fighting the WG. Even if he hates them he probably believes the idea of taking them down is ridiculous unlike Dragon. Which is why he might need an extra motivation.

What Robin does with the truth is important because she will tell Luffy, the next Joyboy the truth. Again, she's anchored to Luffy and the Straw Hats. Like I've said before, even if Law were to go with the to Laugh Tale do we expect him to just learn and not try to persuade Luffy?

It's not fanboyism, if anything you're displaying it by bringing Dragon into this conversation. I never said Dragon wouldn't play a big role against the WG.

The history of the D is tied into her dream but it's not her dream. It's also stated in Oden's flashback that they are two separate things.
They aren’t seperate things.

The Void Century, the D’s, the Ancient Weapons, they all tie together to make the full story of what Robin wants to uncover. She canā€˜t get the full picture unless she has all the pieces of the puzzle. They are all a part of what the truth of the world is

And that’s what Robin is looking to find.
It's similar to how I see the connection between Nami's dream, Franky's and Luffy. They all want to get to Laugh Tale and by getting to Laugh Tale all "sort" of complete their dream. Just like once Robin learns the history, both her and Law will complete theirs
The difference between all them being that Law literally cannot contribute in any meaningful way to achieving his goal. He’s not even part of the crew that will do it. Luffy is the captain leading to Laugh Tale, Nami navigates on their way, Franky maintains the ship. What does Law to help his dream? He can’t read Poneglyphs. Oda tried to say he had to beat Big Mom to find the true history, but that’s like saying Franky had to beat Sasaki to sail around the world. The two really arenā€˜t connected.

Because it's simple, she's tied to Luffy and the Straw Hats. Even if Law ends up going with them we expect him to have some sort of independency that she doesn't have. He will either try to steer Luffy or leave on his own.
Law only gets to go to Laugh Tale if Luffy lets him, and only fond out the truth if Robin tells him. Heā€˜s got no room for any independent decisions at all, let alone anything apparently more important than what Robin will do.

What Robin does with the truth is important because she will tell Luffy, the next Joyboy the truth. Again, she's anchored to Luffy and the Straw Hats. Like I've said before, even if Law were to go with the to Laugh Tale do we expect him to just learn and not try to persuade Luffy?
Persuade Luffy to do what? Not fight the World Gov? Fight the World Gov?Where is this idea that Law apparently has an important role in Laugh Tale coming from?

Law has no grounds to try and push Luffy to do anything and if he gets to Laugh Tale it’s only as a junior partner because Luffy lets him tag along. He’s ultimately not needed. Luffy is since he’s Joy Boy, Robin is because she can actually read Poneglyphs, Law’s just this lesser mix of the two of them.
It's not fanboyism, if anything you're displaying it by bringing Dragon into this conversation. I never said Dragon wouldn't play a big role against the WG.
No, it is fanboyism. Because you made this argument

It's also different that Robin because after learning the truth Robin will likely not do much, we expect Law to come to a conclusion and take action.
There is nothing to support this. There is absolutely no reason to think that the ā€œconclusionā€ that Law will come to will mean he plays a bigger role than Robin in the endgame of the series. Itā€˜s absolutely fanboyism trying to make Law more important than he actually is at the expense of Robin.

I’m not even sure how you can think it’s fanboyism to point out that we have far more reason to think that the main characterā€˜s father, worst criminal in the world, leader of the Revolutionary Army, mystery since chapter 100, stated aim of bringing down the World Gov, has far more of a shout of being involved in the defeat of Im than Law does.

Again while connected Robin has shown that to her they don't mean much. irrc in Alabasta she admitted to this. What the ancient weapons are really are inconsequential to her. The D name interest her but not the level a guy like Law cares about it.

True, I wonder how Oda will try to reconcile that since we know chances are he will learn it alongside the SHs. Some people are saying he has VOAT which could be used as a way to make him a Poneglyph "compass" but that's a reach imo.

Law only gets to go to Laugh Tale if Luffy lets him, and only fond out the truth if Robin tells him. Heā€˜s got no room for any independent decisions at all, let alone anything apparently more important than what Robin will do.
What? Robin telling them and reading the poneglyph is important enough. What it's important from Law is what he does after learning the truth.

Persuade Luffy to do what? Not fight the World Gov? Fight the World Gov?Where is this idea that Law apparently has an important role in Laugh Tale coming from?
Because if Law tags along that means Luffy trust him? It's also in Law's personality to scheme things. And if he tags along as a non SH he could just leave and prepare to fight at a later date.

Law's surgery is what important. Dude I don't get how you don't understand that. You'd think someone who has read OP for long understands Law being important doesn't take away from anyone.

No, it is fanboyism. Because you made this argument

Except it isn't. You're making it so yourself. Law learns the truth eventually it will be the trigger for him to fight the WG and attempt to give up his life for Luffy. I've never made the argument that he would be more important or would take away from Robin. You either have hate goggles on or can't read.

Also I mentioned Dragon because no where im my original post I've said Dragon wouldn't fight Im(I don't even think Im is an enemy), I just said Law would be there for the eventual Eternal Surgery moment

I can see Law and Kidd participating to the final war alongside all Supernova, it's a speculation I brought on since forever. Who would they clash against is unknown however, feel like perhaps Weevil will join over as well, maybe him. :josad:

I hope Kid and Law piss off after Wano
If oda just going to use them as hype tool for Luffy, I agree.

Lol Law must’ve spit in your soup or something.

anyway, Robin has no real connection to history outside of wanting to know it, so if anything Robins plot is less a necessity for her and more a curiousity. It means more for Law. But I think Law has the voice of all things personally.
