Onigashima has had 0 deaths so far and imo there is no chance that this arc ends with no important characters dying.
Now lets address the title, Kidd and Law are fighting Big Mom right now and the outcome of this fight would undoubtedly change a lot. But lets say they lose... Big Mom is a fucking yonko... she will go and destroy any of those lower tier characters in her way. This is where she is killing someone like Kinemon or Kiku or anyone else.
Before you go and say that Oda wont do it.... I agree. But this would be the best possible way to make Kaido look more dangerous, imagine the stakes of Luffy vs Kaido if we know that a loss would mean other characters die. Now if Oda goes and screws it up by making Big Mom lose or simply not do anything after a win, he messed up.
This is the perfect opportunity to:
A. Kill of useless people
B: Create real stakes
C: Make Big Mom less of a meme
D. Make this war seem like an actual war
Dont get me wrong, i doubt it happens. But this is the most realistic way that Oda can accomplish these things.
