Lol, y'all need to stop pretending you care about civilians. It's a pirate story. If anything, he and Blackbeard act way more like actual pirates than the Straw Hats. Xebec probably did worse and still became a lot of people's GOAT after just one chapter even though he slashed a kid with a sword, fully intending to seriously hurt him. He has more balls than Blackbeard and he might be just as bold as Xebec. If Kid had killed Shanks, a lot more people would've jumped on his bandwagon regardless of what he has done to civilians
I'm just being honest, I complained about Shamrock for the same reason and called him and the celestial dragons bums because if you're so strong why feel the need to have slaves or act like that or bully a weakened Loki, what they do and what Blackbeard Kidd and Law did is bum bully behaviour, not a cool thing

Its just an excuse for their obsessive hatred and jealousy of him. They forget some of the SHs have done fucked up shit too at least, especially before joining the crew, they turn blind eyes to the Marines and WG openly, proudly doing entire genocides, even of infants specifically, tons of other pirate characters doing murder, backstabbing, implied sexual assault/coercion (doflamingo with viola) but also ginny and the celestial dragon who she was forced to be with, the prostitution rings and thus how Tama and I think Toko were forced to work in them too (Epstein Island was in Wano all along?) and so on.
As you said, they would be glazing Kidd if he killed Shanks or completely malding and crying on here instead. Or asking for convenient bans/just going AWOL for a while.
I automatically expect the same when he returns, as they're so clearly afraid of happening, just like they were afraid of Kidd actually fighting Shanks and doing some real damage to him if not more than that.
But you know, Oda had to protect the most fragile fanbase and (also ironically overglazed, overworshipped, overprotected, overpowered etc) character in the series too, the rat and his rat family.
They also desperately need a low hanging fruit, an easy hanging target to bully to get attention, that's all this is. Desperate, attention seeking behaviour that I've not seen since I was in high school. But you would think these guys were still in high school given how they behave.
You can try to reason with them with actual evidence and thus logic, facts and such and these idiots will ignore that, double down and keep throwing shit, because that's all they know, understand and want to to do.
That's exactly it too, he's one of the most relentless, authentic, no nonsense, driven, self made, hard working etc characters in the series, far more commited and fearless and less cowardly than their faves, their idols and they can't cope with that, they can't relate, so they just have to hate instead. Inferiority complex, jealousy etc.
Tbh now I think about it, that picture of the empty chairs that OJ Refugee posted, is probably just him and Topi showing how many friends they have. Now that would explain a LOT. Or even anybody who loves or cares about them in general.
