My expectations are
-Kid beats up a bunch of fodder. Nobody stronger than Rockstar.
-Killer intercepts/squares off with Beckman
-Shanks doesn’t use any named attacks
-a doublespread clash (potential ACoC)
-offscreened
-we discover Kid’s been beaten months later. And Killer.
If Kid does more than that, I’ll be surprised, if he does less than that. lol.

I mean I knew Oda would do this unfortunately, given its Shanks and such but it's still...yeah...
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and some heavy copium for myself, that this is the start of Kidds saga, like how Law had his own personal storyline since Punk Hazard till now even, but especially for those few arcs before and this all gonna setup Shanks as a character furthermore, like Doffy with Law too.
This could be Odas way to develop Kidd, to make him mature/grow but I know given the current standards of Odas writing, the pacing of OP, the offscreening of tons of things including stuff that we desperately wanted but was sacrificed for not being "plot relevant" or other reasons too, that this is wishful thinking and mostly in vain at least.
Kidd got the Vegeta treatment in the worst way possible. Something like Vegeta vs the Androids comes to mind or Frieza fucking up and I believe killing Vegeta before too? Oda got a free hype tool for Shanks with Kidd, a free worf effect receiver.
I would be much angrier and more upset like other Kidd fans are but at this point, like with how he treated Sanji, I'm not surprised at all, just disappointed and numb. The shock will wear off, it will sink in and hit much harder too but unless my extremely wishful thinking pays off and Kidd is gonna get some amazing development (we probably have higher odds of seeing ZKK/Kaido and BM being alive and their awakenings at this point), this is it, this is truly it. Kidd is the new Moriah, sigh.
Oda might give him the glorious Crocodile redemption/comeback too later on, but I'm not hopeful for it all.
Oda got fed up of being said he's not savage enough anymore, that he needs to be more brutal, to have more stakes/tension and actual fatal consequences and he unleashed all of that on Kidd through Shanks.

Lmao he totally did 100% too. I still stand by what happened over the timeskip through to WCI somewhat at least was Oda being extremely vindictive towards him. I just can't believe the stuff with the Okamas over the TS and Vergo for example especially wasn't deliberately malicious towards him.
Ironically he really seems to love and hype Sanji and did give him some amazing moments even post TS in their own ways but this whole shit with "number 4", forcing him to have a rivalry with Jinbei and making him toxic/hateful towards him, to the point hes fucking excited and unashamed to beat down a child version of Jinbei is just something else too lol. Hes ironically acting more like his father and brothers than he realises now too.
