Kingdom - Chapter 749: Family

Seems we've discussed this chapter to death in the spoiler thread that no one is willing to do so here
I know, it is a bit sad that all the discussion gets sucked up into the General Spoiler thread.
But for reals, Naki has just been a waste of panels if he's going out like this.. the Saki clan left Kanki to escape, why can't he?
All I can think of is that Naki has always wanted to find out Kanki's history. Riboku might be asking Kanki for his backstory, asking for what made Kanki into the monster that he is today and Kanki decides to humour him for whatever reason. Naki is around to hear his tale and finally gets the answers he always wanted to know about Kanki.

Where it goes after that, I don't know. Maybe he somehow survives this (it is just him and his small group of bandits used to hiding and rough living) and returns to the HSU with the tale of Kanki's past?

It still all sounds a bit weird. Like, Naki is so loyal to Kanki that he wants to die with him but not too loyal as to want to stay with the bloke? How does that work?

It is even worse if Naki really does die here because the guy has practically done nothing of note in the HSU despite his claims of being as strong as Raido.

I get that individuals can be quite contradictory and illogical but from a story perspective, I am just not seeing a whole lotta point in why Naki hitched up with the HSU.

Imma be honest, I don't remember anything about Naki so this chapter felt meh. I honestly lose track of all the characters. Maybe someone can remind me because this chapter felt meh. I didn't care at all.

Maybe I should consider re-reading Kingdom. Reading week by week is lame. Not enough happening.
