The Laughtale is the gateway to the real world we live in.

One piece verse is a small bubble in our earth that was made by world governments so they can rule a small world of theirs however pirates ruined their dream. One piece is a gate to this world. Joyboy isnt just one person but joyboy title is for everyone who lives outside the bubble so basically Us.

The reason why Roger Laughed because after being so powerful he couldnt open the gate. To open the gate he needed 3 ancient weapons. Roger looked at the world outside and the technologies us humans use and the things us humans do regularly and wished he lived with us Joyboys.

Its also the plot of promised neverland, and I remember Oda making a comment for one of Jump's manga competitions about how he wouldn't write something if it has already been done before.

While Oda takes inspiration from things, like Zoro's name coming from Zorro, the story of one piece has always been original.

If this would be true then they would be better off by not opening this gate^^
Just look at our world in 2022, if it was like this then you could argue that the world government are actually the good guys by protecting the One Piece world from us. While in their universe it´s not all happiness and sunshine, they don´t have to deal with such garbage like we do. What an anticlimatic ending it would be if Luffy opens the gate only to find out that he ultimately doomed the once rather One Piece world by having to deal with us stupid clowns and bitches xD

Recent events show the One Piece world is our world 900 years in the future. Experiments went bad and created all different races. All the ice melted and that's why the world is underwater. Oda is Joyboy and came from the future to tell us what will happen next century, the void century aka one piece. The CD are the most influential and rich people of nowadays and will save themeselves by first moving to the moon with an army of robots. From there creating the RedLine.
