Saul protected them because they were innocent civilians... Which even aokiji and most marines there were aware of..

I mean Aokiji might be interested on what the Oharan research was all about. Why the government exterminated them. Especially now it has been revealed that Saul was able to collect the remaining books and probably read them. This is really the only thing that connects Kuzan for end game unless he has something else to pursue that hasn't been revealed yet.

Matchup wise, none of the current Straw Hats aside Luffy and Zoro could be a matchup for Kuzan. And since Kuzan ain't really a bad guy, I can see him and Law having a stall piece matchup.
