I’ll be surprised if he uses it on anyone but Luffy, and even then I don’t think he’ll die from it. Oda likes using villains to contrast Luffy, and I can see a scenario where Law would attempt to use the surgery to stop Luffy from dying vs Imu and Luffy willing himself back up to not let his friend die. Mainly to show that unlike Imu Luffy wouldn’t sacrifice people to stay alive
