Is there another animal more fraudulent than “the king of the jungle”?

Those fuck-off huge ichthyosaurs are becoming my favorite prehistoric marine reptile. Haven’t seen a weight estimate on them that’s concrete yet though.
They're really cool for sure! Shonisaurus is presently my favourite marine reptile.

Estinates-wise, the Lilstock giant Ichthyotitan seems to be generally agreed upon to be within the 80 to 100 ton range, but it depends.

There's a lot of fluctuation, you see. Cymbospondylus started out at 45 tons and was downsized to 22. I've also heard of a large macropredatory ichthyosaur from the Swiss Alps who started out at 55 tons but got lowered to a smaller size by at least one estimate..

....To say nothing of the Aust Colossus or Hector's Ichthyosaur both of whom have some very speculative, very monumental estimates.
Not too interested in Livyatan. Every time it pops it on online discussion, it always circulates to this idea that they predated on Megalodon. Which doesn’t have any solid backing as far as I’m aware?
No, it doesn't.

It seems mostly predicated on the idea that Livy and Meg had the prehistoric equivalent of an orca-GW shark relationship, which is silly as Meg was far larger relative to Livy than GWs are compared to Orca.

The general consensus is that adults of both species were evenly matched and too powerful to take each other down without suffering horrific damage, so they simply avoided each other.

Juvenile Megs and Livy calves may have been prey though.

Decades of propaganda trying to make you think these 300 pounds cats (bears and such weigh way more) are top tiers when they’re mid at best.
Kinyagi should never be allowed to create threads again lmfao.

Lions are top tiers because
A) they are pack hunters and structure their society in packs, which deters more powerful animals
B) for their weight class, lions have extreme explosive power, tigers are typically larger but lions have more explosive strength and superior power/weight
C) for their eco system (Africa) lions pretty much easily dominate everything with the exception of hippoes, elephants, and crocodiles.

So yeah lions are very easily A tier animals.

“A tier” is all it takes to be king of the jungle?

Ridiculous.

Lions do dominate their ecosystem though. Lol

Like I said the only African animals that lions don’t dominate live in the water like hippoes and crocs, or are animals that nobody dominates like elephants and rhinos.

Elephants really aren’t that great, being massive immobile tanks who are basically immune to predators doesn’t mean elephants are all that amazing themselves. Rhinos are also pretty meh, they are like mini elephants but dumber. For Africa, yeah lions are pretty much the most versatile animal that reigns over all others.

@Owl Ki what do you say are the odds between
Peak alpha humongous siberian tiger vs:
Average Grizzly
Peak alpha Grizzly
There was some bear Vs tiger talk a few months back on @God Buggy 's profile though that was 3 Siberians Vs 1 polar bear.

https://worstgen.alwaysdata.net/forum/members/god-buggy.4172/#profile-post-107618

Like I said there, all tigers punch way above their weight. Lol.

Looking back though, either that article was wrong about the bear type or I misremembered (more likely) which bear type it was, cause the Kamchatka brown bears won't be the ones in Siberian tiger territory, that would be Ussuri brown bears, which can supposedly get close to Kodiak sizes. The Wikipedia page for them even has a small subsection on tigers Vs bears.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ussuri_brown_bear&wprov=rarw1

So Siberian tigers do (rarely) predate on those bears but they avoid ones above 300kg. That said we are forcing them to fight here head on in this scenario so a tiger's preference for avoiding injury shouldn't be taken as inability.

I guess it would probably be an even 5/10 between the Siberian tiger at best and an average brown bear.

For biggest grizzlies in a 1v1, I don't know. Maybe the Siberian tiger wins 2/10? Lol.

I would encourage yall to watch this video lmfao.

Scaling lions based sheerly off of their size is dumb. Lions have a much greater percentage of fast-twitch muscle fibers in their bodies than both grizzlies and tigers, meaning lions are capable of much more explosive movements than both. Pound for pound lions take far better advantage of their size than tigers and especially bears.

Tigers are stealth hunters, they kill in the wild by utilizing stealth rushdown tactics, and they almost exclusively prey on animals that are smaller than them.

Grizzlies are more akin to scavenger tanks, they don’t typically fight other animals in the wild aside from occasionally other bears. Grizzlies are massive, semi invulnerable tanks that have extreme power, but by nature they are not combat animals and more akin to just huge scavenging tanks.

Lions are pure warriors, they prey on massive animals that are much larger and stronger than them like African Buffalo. They aren’t stealth/rushdown hunters like tigers, praying on smaller animals via stealth. They aren’t big scrubbish but powerful tanks like grizzlies who only actually fight someone equal to them in stature every so often. Lions are warriors who kill bigger and stronger animals than them constantly, they live for battle and they are 100% combat predators. Putting a lion in a fight with a tiger is like putting a gladiator in a fight with a stealth assassin, putting a lion against a grizzly is like putting a gladiator in a fight with a sumo wrestler (grizzlies beat lions to be clear).

So yeah you really can’t scale lions exclusively off of their size as they are pretty much the only land based predator who are pure warriors praying almost exclusively on bigger and stronger animals than them.

Respect lions man. Truly an A tier animal with easy arguments for S tier.
