Think you're missing the point. Usopp in both spreads lost his spot and became complete background while the other OG5 were untouchable to Oda.

Can we stop comparing who Oda loves most relative to the expectations of people have in arcs based on no narrative preparations?

There are no "background" strawhats, each one is important, the simply have different time to shine. A story is not a spreadsheet where every one must check the "relevant" box each arcs. That is without mentionning the fact that Oda has literally been developping the story of Usopp under our noses in Elbaf.

Just a question for you: why do you think Oda choose to make Yassop shoot the Going Luffy-senpai and not Shanks? The answer might surprise you.

NGL, It's funny how we have an enemy whose whole thing is summoning monsters from your fears, a magic hammer that's essentially the op version of Mjolnir, a gimmicky hax ability that was corrupting the people of Elbaf against their principles/honor, and Usopp essentially had nothing to do with any of it.

This is literally the definition of an author just having crazy fun with a character.

Oda loves his characters, even the bad ones. If he didn't he wouldn't take time to draw them, the guy function with his emotions.
