In a special letter for the 10th anniversary of One Piece, Oda said that Luffy was extremely fortunate and chosen by the heavens. Even though he still hadn't decided on Nika, he already knew he would do something similar with Luffy.

But at the end, Nika stuff was poor, and it's undeniable.
Could have put him in skypeia, could have put him in Oden Flashback, Impel Down.. it was a really strange move from oda, which is not that known for asspulls like this

yeah luffy was hinted to be special from the start but this Nikka stuff is way to clunky to be planned. Like the fact he was reclassified into a mythical Zoan but breaks all the Zoan rules ect.
