This was even implied when he stayed behind to deal with BM pirates in WCI. Jinbei should play the roles Rear admirals plays in real life naval warefare. Zoro and Sanji protects the flanks while Luffy steamrolls ahead.

Only RHM who don't have that sort of relationship with their captain are Marco and Kata, they are like children of WB and BM. Others are nothing like this, now Sabo is similar due to his age difference with Dragon but his personality is very different from the other two.
