Character Discussion Luffy doesn’t get the respect that he deserves!

Why is it that people want to see Luffy fail or just hate on him?

People always complain about Luffy getting help in important battles but never even mention the villains getting help. I’ll give a few examples:

1. When Luffy fought Katakuri people complained that he got help from Brûlée and was able to run away and restore his haki. Okay great but why doesn’t anyone talk about the help Katakuri got? Flampe and some other fodder were literally shooting silent needles at Luffy while he was dodging Katakuris attacks which were based on his future movements and dodging the needles. That’s literally the only reason that he got stabbed. Katakuri also was able to restore his haki when Luffy left so I don’t see the big deal.

2. People said Luffy got help from Law and Gatz against Doflamingo as if Trebol and Bellamy weren’t there. If anything that was a 3 v. 2 with Doffy getting more help than Luffy. Gatz helped Luffy run away yet Oda said Luffy could run away on his own. He also said Luffy would have defeated Doffy still without the help. I never understood the complaints. Luffy also showed clear superiority to Doffy in G4 1v1.

3. People complain about Luffy v. Kaido not being 1v1 which I understand but it’s still utterly ridiculous. Kaido fought the scabbards who didn’t do any significant damage. He fought (Luffy, Law, Kidd, Killer and Zoro) but he did have help from Big Mom and the only people who did any significant damage were Luffy and Zoro. After that Yamato probably did a little damage but Luffy made her leave the fight and blue scarf interfered getting Luffy killed. So it’s not like Kaido didn’t have help. Kaidos help actually lead to Luffys death, awakening and Kaido getting his ass whooped. I’ll concede that the other fights might have tired Kaido out though. But I don’t want to hear anything about lifting the island draining his stamina nobody told him to do that and we don’t know if it drains him or not. If it does he should have put the island down.

Moral of the story is people pray on Luffys downfall and I don’t understand it. We know he will always win in the end.

Kata was out of haki? He never ran out of it. luffy did. It's the biggest drawback of luffy gear 4 can't go more than 10 mins and apparently thing is canon to current manga.
Luffy ran away mid fight is something shouldn't be defended. I won't even call that a strategic retreat. Bro went blindly to fight someone out of his league and ran away mid fight.

moral? Yo your rubber boy dies , runs away mid fight? is winning by Running away mid fight , dieing mid fight and reviving somehow declares you as a victor? of course anyone could win if they plot armour as thick as Luffy.

Legit over half the damage in that fight was thanks to Katakuri himself. Gift after gift for Luffy.

Fought against a Doffy who was barely holding his organs together, and still needed the entire town to protect him despite using an entire round of G4.

Luffy is hard to root for when the author has to hold is hand through every major battle. Dude has like 1 clean victory (Lucci) since he entered the grand line. That's embarrassing.

I get it, he fights guys way stronger than himself, he needs his hand held, but then Luffy fanboys love to ignore all context and act like Luffy is stronger because he "won" with a truckload of plot armour. It's no wonder people got tired of this routine a long time ago.

Wo what is Katakuri injured himself he should have took the needles to. Also I never said he ran out of haki I said he restored what he lost. Are you going to say Katakuri didn’t have help? Luffy also left to restore his haki he came back and figured out his ability. I respect him regrouping and using his brain in the fight.

Once again I don’t care about Luffy running to regain his haki? That doesn’t make him look bad to me. All Doffy did was stall when Luffy used gear 4 because he couldn’t do anything like Luffy said he wouldn’t be able to.

Awakening is normal I a lot of Devil Fruit users have it. Mr go definitely changed the fight the battle was equal until he got there. Of course he would have ran to restore his haki I don’t get why you keep saying that it literally doesn’t negate anything that I said.

What feats did I make up? Kaido was a clean victory I don’t see any plot armor there. Katakuri stabbing himself doesn’t negate the fact that Flampe is the only reason Luffy was stabbed. Katakuri didn’t take the needles did he. He had help rather you want to admit it or not. The Merienda is Katakuris own fault why should that matter to me in the slightest?

He didn’t hold his hand through the Kaido or Doffy fight. Luffy gets his ass whooped over and over and keeps coming back stronger no matter what he’s fearless and that’s what I love about him. I don’t care about him losing a fight I actually enjoy it.

The issue is that Oda can't draw long fights
Who will be entertained to watch a fight who last for several days ?
Because If Oda was consistent each of Luffy's fight should last at least 3 days
Jinbe vs Ace 5 days
WB vs Roger 3 days
Aokiji vs Akainu 10 days
BM vs Kaido 3 days

So Oda shortened SH's fights as he did in MF. It's not that Luffy needs help it's just that they don't have time (12hr in WCI, 1h in DR, a night on Onigashima)

Also people always undervalue Luffy because they put their scaling above everything
Thus After each arc they still put Luffy under the arc villain.
Everytime they are proven wrong because Luffy fights someone far stronger the next arc

Yeah I don’t want to hear any complaints from a Sanji fan if you like Sanjis fights you shouldn’t have any complaints about Luffys. Sanji ran from Queen for a terrible reason and you love the Queen fight. But you have a problem with Luffy running to regain his power? That’s ridiculous.

No I obviously know Laws attack did more damage but a lot of the damage was mitigated by Doffy fruit. Also my point is Doffy had help just like Luffy.
