Character Discussion Luffy is a Bit of a Scumbag if He Helps Loki

#42
No one gives a shit if Loki is evil trash or some benevolent saint. The point is it doesn’t matter because he has something Luffy wants. So Luffys going to free him and get what he wants. Once he does, if Loki reveals himself to be a bad dude Luffy will just beat him. It’s a zero risk play for Luffy.
What Luffy is doing can have consequence though.
What if he frees Loki, but Luffy can't control / capture him, and let's say, Loki kills Sanji?
Sanji dies just because of Luffy's being reckless.

Luckily, One Piece is shonen manga with strong plot armor so that may not happen.

Because it’s one piece and Luffy never has to live with consequences of his actions. If he did Nami would have legitimately died in WCI.

How is Nami dying in WCI = Luffy's fault?
If Sanji didn't let himself get kidnapped by Bege like a Mario Princess, then Nami didn't even need to go to WCI. Big Mom wouldn't come to Wano neither. Pedro didn't have to die neither.

If you mods have something you have an issue with, we can talk in private messages. (Or you can just ban me or something idc that's up to you)

Otherwise I would like to stick to the content of the discussion and avoid creating further arguments.

Here, I'll do it...

Uncle Van and AL Sama: stop calling people mentally ill and less educated when you get upset in a discussion or we'll ban you for like idk 3 months

NexusLord: Sure. Got it. I promise I won't insult anybody personally with crap like that.

Now, we can try to focus on whatever this is supposed to be. Cool? Fuck

Whether Loki is a good or a bad guy may not be the entire subject here. (In other words I don't actually care that much about that specific point of the discussion)

It may become a plot point and establish a framework for what Luffy may do in the future of the story. If he upsets the giants, then is it possible the giants may not be on his side come end of the series for the final war? Is it possible Luffy's carefree attitude may become a problem when things get serious? He seems to lack a lot of order among his ranks. He trusts them to act honorably, but we already have examples of when they didn't. Bartolomeo started a war with Shanks that he wasn't prepared for. How many other ways could this carefree attitude turn into problems?

This hyperfocus everyone seems to have on insisting Loki is a good guy may get in the way of what it means for Luffy to persistently behave this way.
I think being carefree is only an issue when you are in a position in which you should be careful,

Everyone says going to Elbaf was Usopp's dream... But did he plan to be there as a criminal? Lol
Oda been hinting that the SH will be looked at has criminals since the Egghead arc. When Luffy says Idc if the Giants are against me I am still going to be Pirate King.

Yes consequences are apart of freedom and adventure. If you knew wgat will happen then it wouldn't be an adventure would it.

One of Luffys biggest traits since day one, has been to be able to distinguish between good and bad people. If he's helping Loki, then he doesn't view him as a bad person.

Us, as the readers, knowing Luffy can tell the difference between good and bad people, can then deduce that Loki must not be that bad of a person.
