Questions & Mysteries Luffy is a hero

#1
"I'm not a hero because heroes share their meat"

Is this Oda being ironic because he knows Luffy doesn't act like a pirate or is he being genuine with thinking Luffy isn't a hero?

I think it's simply showcasing one of Luffy's characters trait rather than a true statement about what Oda himself thinks about Luffy.

Reducing heroes to "people that share meat" and describing himself as not being one simply because he refuses to do so highlights his childish yet endearing vision of the world. It's like him asking Law if he will betray him and being satisfied with the former simply answering "no".

Oda himself I'd assume knows full well that Luffy is or could be reasonably described as a hero (he wouldn't have other characters calling him that otherwise I think).

Luffy doesn't consider himself a hero he just does what he thinks is right he doesn't need praise, recognition or even thanks for it in Luffys mind he's just returning a favor or helping out a friend however many of the people luffy and the strawhats helped on their journey absolutely considers them heroes

Since chapter 1

When he kidnapped Helmphempo, tried to steal from skypians, Went in a prison help freed mass murders and genocidal maniacs, literally has a Sexual assult guy like Sanji on his crew, etc.... Enters island like he owns the place etc... He literally does whatever the eff he wants
He kidnapped Hel whatever you call it because his father was an evil dictator

Skypians gave the SH gold to repay Luffy for saving them, in fact the skypeans wanted to given them even more gold then the ones they were taking off with

The third one you're correct, it was the one pirate thing he did do

Being a hero and rejecting or embracing being a hero matters in OP.
The ones that embrace it even to small degrees lose something.
Koby lost Garp
Kuma lost Ginny
Kuzan lost his justice

Even if Garp ends up alive by the end it should be incredibly bitter sweet like he can no longer fight due to age and injuries.
Its clear Garp is done even if Aokiji only faked it, and that would be Koby's fault and something he has to live with.
