Character Discussion Luffy is the best character in One Piece because he always puts his friends first

That's the entire point of the series. That's why Luffy is the main character. That's what Oda wants us to understand. That we need to love and protect the people around us.

Doesn't matter how smart you are.

Doesn't matter how strong you are.

Doesn't matter how rich you are.

What matters is how you treat people, especially the people you care about.

Luffy lives his life helping other people not to make money, or get internet clout, or to be better than other people. He just wants them to smile.

I like Zoro, Robin, Vivi, so many more characters more than Luffy. But, Luffy is the best character in One Piece, to me, because no one cares more about their friend's feelings than Luffy. Their race, gender, how they look, he doesn't give A SINGLE FUCK. He just wants them to be happy. He will break his body a thousand times just to make one person he loves smile.

Luffy is the most free man in the world because he frees others, while living freely himself. That's how we should live.

Gaimon is really the GOAT though, let's be honest.

Luffy is the best character in OP because Oda puts the most effort into his characterization. Zoro and Sanji are still more interesting to me though.

Sometimes, you are NOT wrong. But, I think Luffy never intentionally puts his crew into danger.

GOAT thread by GOAT of Clowns. Real dub mate. He freaking died(almost) to save Wano(for his friend Momo, Kinemon, Yamato, Tama, etc.). He fights for others, no selfishness. He jumped at Marineford(he had no haki, no CoC, no awakening, wasn't close to being Top Tier) for his brother\friend Ace. Same thing in Alabasta, FMI, Enies Lobby now Egghead( this fight to save Vegapank). He even went to attack the bandit for defiling Shanks as a 7 year old.
His last words to Kaido's question ,"What kind of World do you want?" "I want a world where my FRIENDS can eat to their full!"( giving Kaido the shock of his life since he was the one struggling to feed himself and had to be captured by Marines to do so then turning into a menace that robbed the people of Wano of food and didn't spare his own child was the epitome of story telling).

All fights of Luffy in East Blue was because he wanted someone as a nakama. Self interested.

This was pretty similar during Grand Line. By that time he already discovered he always be rewarded with a meat banket when he defeat bad guys. Self interested.

Luffy reveals that he has to be stronger than everybody to be Pirate King so we can easily resume all the villains he defeat to that statement.

Luffy never wanted to take down Kaido because he was evil. Simply because he was a Yonko.
