Character Discussion Luffy=Ra | Imu=Apep | Vivi=Maat

This is a short idea of possible inspirations for IMU, VIVI and Luffy

Imu, Vivi, and Luffy in One Piece might be inspired by Egyptian mythologies, so far so known.

Imu could be associated with Apep, both symbolizing destruction, darkness and chaos.

Vivi might serve as a representation of Ma'at, associated with justice, order, and harmony.

Luffy could draw parallels to Ra, the sun god and protector against dark forces. I don't need to put I photo of Ra, it should be common sense that Luffy is inspired by Sun god Ra.

This hypothesis interprets potential mythological influences on character development in the One Piece story, so feel free to read, to agree or disagree I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Almighty protector of the sun and sky, I beg of thee please heed my cry, transform thyself from orb of light, and bring me victory in this fight, I beseech this humble game, but first I shall call out thy name, WINGED DRAGON OF RA
Favorite thing about the god cards is that 4Kids didn’t want “Heavenly Dragon of Osiris” so they instead named him off of one of the executive producers in charge of translation.

Literally don’t even know. Probably because Heaven and Osiris are too connected to death and 4Kids did everything they could scrubbing it of any connection to death. Even creating the shadow zone so they don’t say murder lmao
:christugh:
or maybe because it contains religion? They also changed devil fruit to something else, right?

I don’t think Oda “bases” the story of obscure mythological characters.

The story is very very surface level.
Alabasta = Arab themed arc
Pell and Chaka = loosely given powers resembling Egyptian gods

All religions were born from African religons so the similarities with a God being seen as the son is in all the religions. The stories will also be similar.

Agree, but One Piece is heavily influenced by the real world - nuances of various myths, legends and religion are incorporated in his work.

Also a lot of characters are linked to real world individual (Pirates, Celebrities etc).

Also architecture in one piece are heavily influenced be our world.

One piece is somehow a interpretation of our world in the most fantastical way.

Egypt isn't or rather wasn't Arab in the era of the Pharaohs and the Gods.
