Luffy ended up beating them cause there was no other opponent for him but here in egghead there’s one who luffy has a very significant history with. Hell Sabaody literally just got shown again in the flashback and how rough it was for Luffy.

Oda's not such a bad writer he would keep hinting towards what will at the very least be a brief clash between Saturn and Luffy only to make Luffy and Kizaru fight again
