Gear 2 and 3 had basically just become part of his base moveset ever since the timeskip so it's fine
I agree though that G4 is probably being phased out unless he can actually combine G4 and 5 somehow.

He can use Gear 4 moves with Gear 5. Bajrung Gun has Gear 4 compression built in.

Why would he use those forms if he can use all of them in g5 without any drawback. So most of luffy’s fight would be either base luffy or g5.
If an opponent is strong enough to give Luffy challenges in base he would go straight to g5.
The only thing g5 can’t do is fly and I think oda would find a way to make luffy fly using g5

Actually this is a very good theory, the previous gears were Luffy’s way of achieving partial awakening

Gear 5th having drawbacks is head cannon, gear 5th is a Zoan transformation and it doesn’t make sense for a Zoan transformation to have drawbacks.

The reason why he was exhausted mid fight against Kaido was because he just had a cardiac arrest moments before turning into gear 5th. The reason for the exhaustion was the thunder Bagua that Kaido dealt Luffy which almost killed him when Guernica intervened

Actually he can, in both the Kaido fight and in Film RED he used gear 4th techniques in Gear 5th. Bajarang Gun is basically King Kong Gun but bigger
