No way G4 is basic use of DF with haki. Only Chopper can do something similar with his rumble balls. And he even mastered it after timeskip not needing rumble balls anymore similar to Luffy but without drawback.
My point was that Sengoku transformation looked like Sengoku while Luffy G5 look like Nika. So it seems G5 is Animal Form while Sengoku used his Hybrid Form.

G4 uses haki to maintain his form. That holding air bullshit has no correlation with G4 drawback of being 10min without using haki and every next activation you have less time to be on G4 form. Which Oda completely forgot during that fight.
I'm trying to see a pattern between human DF used by human animal and hybrid form. Hybrid Form usually looks like the face of human form. Kaido Hybrid Form reminds his Human Form face where his animal form is just a dragon.
Sengoku transformation has Sengoku face on it when Luffy G5 has Nika Face.
We are not even sure if Luffy trully awakened or whatever. It seems an awakening but he says it is a gear but he can go in and out any time he wants without drawback(unlike gears).

Inconsistency is the air getting out because anything else them haki depletion. Luffy G4 is always with his mouth open and screaming. Air is not a problem. Haki depletion is.
