In chapter 967 we learned that the fourth road poneglyph was in fact originally In Fishman island when Roger found it. Given that Whitebeard was the original Yonkou Ruler of Fishman island, it stands to reason that he knew about the Road poneglyph and its possible he is the one who removed the poneglyph to prevent fishman island from getting attacked for it. This directly implies that Marco AND Blackbeard very likely know the location of this poneglyph unless Whitebeard made a point to prevent even his crew from knowing where he put it, which is unlikely.
The reason this is important is because Marco told Nekomamushi to relay a message to Luffy in place of him coming to Wano to help out. Now the general concensus was that nothing Marco could say could really replace his actual assistance in this war and so it would be a wasted plot line for Nekomamushi to have gone there and come back empty handed. But given this likelihood that Marco actually in fact told Nekomamushi the location of the last poneglyph, this immediately dismisses the previous argument. Nekomamushi's journey does have purpose now. He actually knows the location of the last poneglyph and who knows, maybe the reason he is so late to the raid is because he took a detour straight to the poneglyph and is on his way with a rubbing as we speak.
The main argument i see around and actually agreed with was that Nekomamushi's journey to find Marco couldn't be for nothing and so people came to the conclusion that its a must for Marco to come despite him saying he wasnt and giving a very clear reason why and literally nothing having changed in that regard (unless Weevil is reported to have gotten arrested by the marines, this being the only possible thing that would lead to Marco changing his mind). Therefore this argument is possibly now null and Nekomamushi did gain something despite not getting Marco.
