Ask yourself why Mihawk can’t discipline Buggy in front of his men. Mihawk can’t even touch or harm Buggy, as the illusion among Buggy’s crew is that Buggy > Mihawk - and that illusion is absolutely vital for Mihawk’s survival. Buggy’s crew must believe Buggy is stronger and commands him without ambiguity. That’s the basis for Cross Guild
Let’s remember Buggy commands an army of pre timeskip Bellamy level people from Impel down level 2 + military resources and financiers + his own “pedigree” that is considered legendary. That is nothing to scoff at. If the crew realises Buggy is fake the entire house of cards falls apart. They will depart from Buggy faster than you can say “Buggy Ball“ and Cross Guild evaporates.
As Mihawk’s entire fate is tied to this illusion, this entire house of cards, question is will he become Buggy’s full time butler?
Right now Mihawk can’t refuse Buggy anything in front of his crew. Mihawk would literally have to serve Buggy Coffee with extra cream, ice cream and cookies with that and if Buggy orders him in front of his men to kiss his ass, Mihawk’s life and safety is entirely dependent on him puckering his lips and kissing that clown ass. Remember Mihawk is not even partner or vice-captain, the crew thinks he is an underling
Mihawk, the man with greater skills of the sword than Shanks, taken to its most absurd conclusion Mihawk will have to become a full-time butler of Buggy, as without it he would have to take over Cross Guild himself but then he loses all illusory power and status that Buggy commands
Mihawk would have to become Buggy’s personal waiter and bootlicker in order to survive. Mihawk can refuse his waiter job in private meeting rooms with Buggy, but out in the public sphere Mihawk’s waiter status is beyond any reasonable doubt :cheers:
