Well, it's obvious. He went there, beat everybody, and decided the New World was a big waste of his time. He solo'd it and then decided to kick back and have some lemonade in East Blue.
He is the World's Greatest Swordsman, after all, and swords are the best weapons, so therefore he's unstoppable. He probably went to see the One Piece before and just said "meh" my sword is better.

Mihawk casually located and visited Shanks in the NW. Means he traveled at 20km/h in a nutshell through the NW to him.
Beasts left him alone cause they feel strength.
Beast pirates including their super aggressive battle hungry boss left him alone cause they feared him.

WB probably didn't care if he crossed his seas, since they had no hostile relationship.
We don't know anything else. Everywhere in the world people know him but they rarely see him.
He had found a calm place to chill and probably prefered that to whatever place he had in the NW.
I hope we'll have some side characters on Elbaf than mention earlier appearance there.

Tbf shanks was scared by a fruitless Blackbeard and lost his arm to an east blue sea king. It’s not crazy to think he was fighting commanders at tbf start of his new world solo adventure. Plus he was only worth 1 billion at the time

Personally I think it’d be cool if mihawk tried to attack tottoland back in the day. With his betrayal involving the navy in some way

He struggled against Teach and didn't beat him 12-13 years ago
He even struggled to take down WsW and take the fruit away 13 years ago
He only got 1B bounty 12 years ago after Uta incident
But somehow they think it's impossible for Shanks to be beaten by Linlin or even katakuri 12+ years ago lol
If we follow what WB told Shanks ''Noone talks about the old legend, your duel with Hawkeye is still fresh in my memory'' we can conclude one of two things :
- Shanks didn't fight anyone of note after Mihawk

- Mihawk dwarfs everyone else to the point where WB didn't even care to mention them (ie. Kaido, BM etc...)

I can safely assume.. since no yonko talked about beside WB+Shanks that he has 0 interactions with them or not a direct assault. Even WB talked about him in a sense that he didn't meet or interacted with him in any way shape or form.
Disregard the others. Its fine to think Shanks was beaten.. there is no way he just came into being a captian at yonko level lol.. Even Mihawk must have lost battles too.
If any of them have 100% win record i would say its sketchy lol unless we get a great explanation as to how why.

1. No, He only resides in the east blue which is quite frankly his natural habitat

4. He’s never been. Before he could enter, he’d often hear rumors about wano samurai far stronger than basic low ranked hakiless canon fodder marines he’s so use to slaying+rumors of Vista being there which is a no fly zone for him
