Is the anime completely inaccurate and a total blasphemy of the manga work?

Did the creators of the anime just get handed a few of the chapters and get told "get to work" or were they provided with some kind of a guideline with what they could and couldn't do?

There were some nice extensions and BM and Zoro got the nicest glow-ups but overall it's an example of why you should never take anime seriously when it comes to debates

The last episode i watch was Kid vs Shanks and it was just shit and didn't capture the feel of the manga at all what oda was going for, ignoring the literal errors (like kids laser being one continuous beam)
