Character Discussion Nami Marries Loki: Love and Thunder, Navigating the Storm

#41
Question, do you guys genuinely think Oda intends to write Nami as a gay? Because outside of a joke scene with Kalifa (which only works if Nami isn't actually attracted to her), I've never gotten that vibe from her and I especially don't get the fascination with Vivi x Nami.

I don't like the idea of Nami being exactly like or an enhanced version of Bell-mere, she's a navigator who belongs to the sea and I think Oda could do better in showing biological parent-child bonds; essentially I'd like to see Nami have her own kid if she is to become a mom by the end.

Also this Loki theory is trash, sorry CoC
Well, she also might be bi. I dunno, I just don't really see her ending up with any of the OP guys (and I used to ship SaNa).

Nami x Vivi - well, this about explains how it started, look at this gaze:

And from more recent chapters (1060), Nami is worried similarly to Sanji

But Vivi has her childhood friend Kohza or whatever his name is, so I am not sure there's going to be any more Nami x Vivi action compared to what we got in chapter 213 in that bath scene.

Nami is a navigator yes, but once she completes the map of the world and gets older, I can totally see her settling down. And whether it's her own kids or adopted ones, I can definitely see her raising some.

It won't happen.

Oda said Sanji cheats.
Really? Where?
That's shame, I thought his chivalry included being faithful.

Then I no longer ship Sanji with anyone but harem where every member of this harem is willing to be a part of it.
I hate cheaters, but consensual polyamory is ok if everyone is happy.

A dating magazine for women from 2009. I found it in the Japanese fans twitter posts. But we agreed in the BLA GC to keep it on the downlow so the Zorotards didn't run with it.

Funnily, he also says Luffy would need someone who has a lot of patience, which Nami is not. So it also shot down the LuNatics.

As for it ruining ships for me... Nah. I see Sanji and Nami like Ray and Shakky. They're married but Ray still looks and Shakky doesn't care.

I never thought anything about that stare scene tbh, and forgive my bias but Nami has gazed more fondly at Luffy before imo

Also didn't see anything in that worrying scene, Chopper also reacted the same way and I don't think Sanji has any romantic feelings for Vivi or anyone else atm, I don't see his obsession with women as romance.

I generally don't like any Vivi x SH ship because of the farewell in Alabasta, I took that to mean that they all have equal friendships with her and there's been no development with her since then. Although I think Vivi seems to prefer Luffy since she nearly always talks about him any time she appears after Alabasta, not the others.

It's just never crossed my mind that Nami might actually like Vivi or any woman in general like that, she saw Hancock in Sabaody and didn't care about her looks nor has she ever cared about seeing Vivi or other women naked while bathing. I didn't really think about her and men either until I saw her jump into Luffy's arms in Zou and hold him against her chest lol.

As long as Luffy is alive and still willing to sail, I don't see Nami settling because she herself said she has to keep him from dying, and Luffy as well has said he won't sail without her. Idk if she ever becomes a mom in the end or not, but I don't see her settling unless Luffy dies.

Interesting. I would think that Sanji will always be a flirt, whether he has a partner or not, but outright cheating is not something he'd do because it would break his woman's heart. Hence in my opinion it was either "settle with one woman, be faithful, but keep flirting & simping" or "never settle, be with as many women as possible".

I don't know what Oda has in mind for OP, but there could be two main possibilities: 1) the adventure continues, SHP stay as they are and 2) "much later" epilogue, a glimpse of every SH after the journey as they settle/travel on their own. I suppose the probability of option 1 is higher, so I get where you are coming from with "Luffy & Nami will travel forever". However, I still believe that at a certain point Nami might want to settle down, live on an island and help building the future as the world revolution is coming. It's not based on actual evidence, more like my understanding of the characters. Let's read the story and see how it goes :)

As for Nami-Vivi, well, Vivi is def straight. So there's nothing on Vivi's part. As for Nami, it might be simply Oda's way of doing fan service w/o romantic undertones, but that bath scene really gives me a couple vibes. With Nami's overall behavior towards men, (she hits them, manipulates them, orders them around), there's nothing indicating her being interested in them romantically. But then again, it's Oda with his "not gonna write romance" approach, so most of this is simply my perception. You might be more correct as Oda likes Nami's character and his wife cosplayed as Nami, so he might go all traditional with her, giving her family and everything. Let's keep on reading and see what Oda cooks for us :)

Well, we don't exactly know what Oda considers cheating. Flirting and simping, or actually committing adultery. So there's that.
