it’s on principles. I hate to sound like a broken record but I view metagaming as cheating. Thus stems from me playing D&D. What happened in Phandalin in another game stays in Phandalin. I ran a campaign and my brother in law was just waiting for the dungeon’s BBEG, to which I said: “no no no, this happened earlier, so he booked it.” I knew what he was doing for he had also read the adventure.
