Anytime, mate! Glad you're feeling a bit better.

Dunno if that'd help but you can PM me anytime if you need to talk. Or we can talk on your profile page if you don't mind ppl readin the convo.

Yeah it sounds weird but thats just how i am, also either is fine since I made a thread on it so i wouldn't mind people viewing it, thank you

I was depressed for two years and had no hope for my future. I can’t cure your depression but I can share what helped me.
1. Try to cherish the simple things in life. I learned that nothing is "simple" and everything has a certain value.
2. Be honest to yourself. I know is hard but living in a lie is more painful than the hardest reality.
3. Change your environment and look for hobbies. Go for a walk, watch movies, read books etc. Try to avoid toxic people and calm your mind.

What personally helped me the most was my faith in God. I’m not telling you to follow any specific religion, it just helped me a lot.
I didn’t have faith in God because I had a bad time. I always believed in him and saw him as a "best friend" during these times.
The faith of a god is really powerful, I've started to actually understand the whole concept I usually thought it was just some belief system incase an afterlife hell exists for most

2 years is such a long time, I'm happy for you that you found what you've needed it's actually a relief for me that there will be light at the end of the road, I'm new and i'm learning taking notes I won't forget

I already said it and will said it again, if you're depressed, try to take a short jog in the nature if you like going outdoor or read a book at home. Doing yoga would also help you physically and mentally as well.

If opportunity arrives, make sure to talk to your family or trusted ones about your issues or seek therapy. Those are always an option.

I'm always up for trying new things, always on the move but once im alone it just pours in again and that's what I'm trying to work on

knowing that others have gone through the same things its actually reassuring, and I'll def be taking yoga been wanting to in a while

As somebody who‘s been through a lot of shit, let me just tell you this: The most important thing is to never lose yourself and let yourself get taken away by the storm you‘re facing now. Always remember, you are somebody, and you are you. I have no idea what‘s going on with you irl, but if you stay true to yourself and don‘t lose yourself you will eventually get the mental strength you would like to have.

Religion is a cope

"Idk what to believe in but hey, some other guy already wrote a book about his beliefs so I'm just going to copy his opinions in order to feel peace of mind"

Don't get me wrong, I got nothing against religious people. Just saying that religion alone is not a replacement for mental health.
Religion is not the belief in some other guy
I think you're confusing it with something else

What an obnoxious thing to write

You don't have anything against religion yet, in thise quotes, you directly attack every religion and religious person at the same time

Spend the time you spend scrolling on Instagram watching YT.. And other distractions that take away the time you require to contemplate and introspect aka SPENDING TIME WITH YOURSELF more understanding yourself more use such oppertunity go reinforce yourself, your morals, and your motivation to keep pushing

Dw about what the future holds.. It holds nothing but the man you choose to make out of yourself now.

Stay strong, dm's are open

Get into stoicism and follow the advice of stoics even if they sound ridiculous.

You can read the classics from Aurelius, Epictetus, Seneca and so on yourself, or get the content from Ryan Holiday.

Since you yourself said you tend to overthink, it might help you.

If you feel bad, talking about weakness doesn't make sense. This is not a weakness.
First, contact a specialist for a diagnosis. It could be depression. Or something else. Your problem is solvable. You need professional help. I've been through this and periodically go through it. Therapy saved my life. And when it happens again, I usually know I can handle it.
Perhaps you don't have any diagnosis, and it's just such a life stage. Anyway, read Robert Leahy's books on anxiety and depression. This is a great self-help.

A cope is not a bad thing. Religion can help bringing structure and order into a person's life and thoughts.
But it's not enough to ensure mental health.

Then everything that helps with mental health is a cope.

But the way you quoted your message was ignorant and vile, and you very well know that which is why you ignored it completely in your reply.

Whether or not something is enough to ensure someone's mentaly health is irrelevant as long as there are cases where religion (or any other "cope") has had long term positive impact.

These are not mental health olympics. Stop powerscaling the way people live their lives and help themselves.

This reaction is totally over the top man.

Am I supposed to be offended everytime minority religions and unaffiliated believers are excluded from, like, anything??

Don't spam insults and accusations.

Wtf are you even talking about with the minority religions?

You brought in the religious topic with your own bigotry

A man asked for mental health tips and you turned into one of your crusades

Either give the guy what he asks for or steer clear of the convo

Religions are just different ways to see the world. NOT a therapy replacement.
Now stop acting like I just stole your ice cream and chill tf out.
