it’s weird really sanji is supposed to be equal to zoro but isn’t in the worst generation and doesn’t get talked about the same way in-world sometimes it’s used as a gag and sometimes it’s not
even when he updated the worst generation to include blackbeard he left out sanji
my theory is from dressrosa onwards(when the worst generation update happened) he wanted to make zoro the clear number 2 and a gap between them you can see it with the rooftop fight, zoro unlocking Acoc but now oda wants to make them equal or close again that’s why the gaban parallels and hints about sanji getting conquerers haki are in kinda in your face

The Supernova were a late and unplanned addition in the manga. By that time, it was already clear Oda was purposefully keeping Sanji out of the spotlight.
Sanji was out of sight when Mr 2 met the Strawhats so Baroque Works never learned the correct number of their crew. After they were taken down, the WG evidently didn't learn much about Sanji either. It's why he didn't get a bounty after Alabasta and CP9 didn't know what to expect.
Sanji's lack of notoriety is a long-running gag with relevance to the plot well after Ennies Lobbies.
That gag with the bounty is why Moriah failed to recognise Sanji and underestimated his worth by using a weak host for his shadow. All the same, Sanji's shadow was nevertheless equal Zoro's in the body of a legendary swordsman. But keep telling me how Zoro is stronger though.
How did you come to this conclusion? Sanji's always been a more proactive leader. If anything, post-skip, but especially from Dressrosa onwards Zoro's role narrows to being Luffy's bodyguard and director advisor.
It was at Dressrosa where Sanji initiated hostilities against Big Mom, before then leading the "Twirlyhats" to Zou.
The manga makes it very clear the rooftop was a spotlight for the Worst Generation versus the older legends.
Sanji was never counted among them. Killer got neutralised and Zoro got sent down to deal with King.
There's never been a gap between Zoro and Sanji because they're equals by design. Sanji has consistently outperformed Zoro since pre-skip but they still equals. Oda has been anything but subtle about it.
Zoro doesn't even have control over his Conqueror's Haki, and Sanji is still his equal without it - that's literally what this magazine puts in black and white and in contemporary context.
Sanji awakening Conqueror's Haki has been obvious for a long time if you've paid attention to how much Oda has invested in his story, which STILL has mysteries left to reveal after his secret origin story, like PoL and why he can create fire.
