Also, this year sales are directly correlated to the movie. Wano was 4 years long. Each of the four years, the sales were declining until the movie came out. If you want to believe that the 45% increase in sales this year isn't related to the movie then go ahead and believe that. Also, a large chunk of those new sales are backlogs, meaning new readers came in so it wasn't Wano.

The fiscal year starts in December and runs til the following December. Volume 101 released December 3rd, 2021, and volume 104 released November 4th, 2022, giving it four volumes within the fiscal year.

Shueisha must be fuming after they forcibly try to shove OP merch/promotion everywhere in Japan and it still can lose in sales sometimes.

One Piece sales were never amazing to me from a worldwide perspective. 500m copies sold 80% in Japan

Naruto, Bleach, and Dragon Ball have more clout overseas and they didn't sell many copies. Why? Cause it was fun.

To this day I haven't met a manga/anime guy who told me that One Piece made his childhood.

Everyone and their mothers know Naruto, Bleach, and Dragon Ball.

It's not a cope. One Piece is simply a product ever since time skip started. Go and fish for yourself about info regarding the promotion push that One Piece has in Japan especially. Shueisha picked One Piece to be their golden egg and they try to milk the shit out of it.

One Piece sales drop and the haters will say stuff like how the series is not doing good anymore and it will keep dropping.

But the moment the sales do good again and it goes back up, the haters will find some other excuse.

Right now the excuse is because of Film Red, but let's just see what happens with the sales next year.

If by any chance the sales drop next year and the ranking for One Piece goes down then yeah maybe one of the reason why it did good this year was because of Film Red but again we will have to wait and see next year.

I don't know if you know this or not, but One Piece has been running for over 20 years. You're either invested in it at this point or not. Releasing a movie isn't going to drastically increase Volume sales on a series sitting at over 500,000,000 sales already.
