Natural ancient Giants exist such as Oars and Oars Jr exist but just like how artificial Giants were being made from regular humans in Punk Hazard, I think Giantification experiments were done to make artificial Ancient Giants.
The Numbers are described to be creatures of Oars’ ancient Giant race but were “PURCHASED” by Kaido from Punk Hazard.
We see the Numbers in Kaido’s crew 20 years ago so they must have been purchased when Punk Hazard was under Vegapunk.
I believe given their horns and Bigger size than humans, the Numbers are derived from Vegapunk experimenting on regular Oni’s from Kaido’s race.
But Vegapunk failed to make them intelligent like actual Ancient Giants like Oars Jr. Same way Vegapunk said his artificial devil fruit was a failure. Despite both the devil fruit and his gigantification experiments being MILES better than Caesar’s work in both departments.
Meaning Kaido might have purchased them NOT because they are actually strong (because they actually aren’t” but because they were related to him in someway being part of his Oni race and all before being turned into Ancient Giants.
