Didn't Sanji panick that he would die? I don't see why Oda would foreshadow that if this fight had sense after all.

Unless he plays it like Water Seven/Enies Lobby with the CP9 first low diffing the SHs and then being defeated after hard fights. But I doubt this would be the case then again.
