Are they the top 3 after the Roger era?

Why is Shanks not called the King of the Pirates? He is the most free man on the seas, can enter all top secret areas as and when he pleases and casually walk out. By Luffy's definition, this guy should be Roger's heir before Luffy gets handed the torch. Not even Mihawk and Dragon can do what Shanks does.

Oda writes manga and states things in sbs that Kaido is above Shanks, Dragon and Mihawk
Fans : because these 3 are linked to luffy and zoro, they're stronger than Kaido
I don't buy kaido hype...for me bla bla...

Who cares about what you think
If these 3 were above Kaido, Kaido wouldn't be top 1, WSC & WSP.
These 3 weren't even above Oldbeard (even sickbeard could match Shanks in a clash, with Mihawk admitting inferiority)

I'd claim there are actually 4 distinct generations with GOAT candidates

Generation 1
Roger (77), Garp (78), Rayleigh (78), Sengoku (79), Whitebeard (74)

Generation 2
Kaido (59), Oden (59), Borsalino (58), Akainu (55), Dragon (55), Fujitora (54)

Generation 3
Shanks (41), Mihawk (43), Blackbeard (40), Buggy (41)

Generation 4
Luffy (19), Zoro (21), Law (26), Kidd (23), Sabo (22), Ace (22)

Very few strong characters are inbetween these generations. Big Mom (68), Aokiji (49) only ones I can think of. Couldn't find ages for Shiki or Green Bull.

Omitted Beckmann (50), King (47), Katakuri (48), Marco (45) + Shichibukai + Magellan & Shiryu as they are strong but not at that level.

Making a connection between things is one of the most effective ways to understand them.

Think about it, Mihawk is related to Zoro and Teach to Luffy, in general if Luffy is ranked number 1, Zoro is number 2, this same reasoning can be extended with their objectives, so among the current pirates Mihawk is nuemro 2 and Teach logically the number 1. In the end Shanks will always have a lower level compared to those two.

Shanks is number 1 currently with Teach and Luffy being near equals to Shanks
Mihawk is 4th strongest pirate alive (well 5th if you count Gag Buggy)

Luffy’s true bounty would be 3.5B at least, 4B max

So you are saying that...

Each of the three is from one of the three different lunarian species?
Hawkeye from a lunarian race that has these weird eyes that imu also has.
Dragon from what is now the Shandians with the same red tattoos all over them.
And Redhair from the black wingers with flames on their back?

It does seem odd, as Shanks is not seen with any of the traits that King has.

I think noone said that but Oda already introduced the top 3 after Roger era, on the east blue arc: Shanks, Mihawk and Dragon. Even the first to show his power was shanks (he was the first introduced) and now it's very probable than Mihawk and Dragon would have their time (Mihawk vs some admiral and Dragon in Mariejois to fight agaisnt some gorosei or the same akainu).
