Well... it is clear by all metrics (panel count, focus, fights, plot, character progression, etc) that the original 5 Strawhats are the main characters and the rest of the crew is secondary (though there could be an argument for Chopper)

Usopp and Nami will LIKELY get arcs... the rest of the crew has always been irrelevant

Nah the rest of the crew isn't irrelevant. It's just that there are so many minor characters running around right now that a lot of the Strawhats get the short end of the stick as a result, but I would still say that Brook for example gets more focus than someone like Kawamatsu
I honestly think Oda made the mistake of creating too many Scabbards because he didn't want any of them to feel like background characters. But the problem is that when you make them all relevant they're gonna be stealing some screentime from other characters

No the Scabbards aren't background characters dude. Background characters are characters who are there as props, like most of the Smile users for example. Minor characters are characters who still contribute to the plot and/or themes despite not being main characters
Kinemon and Kiku both got a lot of focus. Denjiro, Inu, Neko, Izo, and Raizo were helpful in the raid. Kawamatsu's and Doji's backstories got a decent amount of attention. And obviously Kanjuro was pretty important

Sanji was important yes but it's not as though he's the only reason the Alliance happened.
For example if it wasn't for Franky, Kinemon's head would have never even gotten out of that cell in Punk Hazard

Crazy how Ussop didnt have his typical moment in a major arc like Wano, he always had one.

And btw, this was the first full fight against a Yonko crew and Ussop wasnt in the previous arc. So him not having even his CoO further explored in this context it's kinda stupid.

So yeah, I dont expect too much for Elbaf either.

I hope Elbaf will bring some spicy plot for Usopp. It has been more than two decades his coming to Elbaf was hyped

Even if Usopp does have set up for him in Elbaf, that shouldn't be an excuse to sideline his character for an entire arc that's 150+ chapters ( almost 4 years ) long.

For all the build up wano has had, sidelining any strawhat is a fumble in my eyes, regardless of reasoning.

I liked Usopp, but I got annoyed with him watching Nami being spanked by Ulti, without even trying to throw anything.

Now I hate him and wish the bounty on that shit didn't go up. Although unfortunately the government will fall for the lie that he defeated Ulti and Page One
