This is not a powerscaling thread, Oden is a King, a leader of his own faction and a swordsman capable of using AdCoC.

I don’t put Oden on the same league as Rayleigh, power wise I think he’s at Shanks’ level and an equal to Roger as well as his partner. This is why I don’t consider him a Yonko commander or Admiral level but a Bonafide top of top tiers like Shanks Roger and WB

that’s why he’s in Kaido’s top 5, that’s why he’s a parallel to Luffy(and Zoro, but Zoro’s is more as a combatant/swordsman) and Luffy in terms of character and will

First of all, there is no ''Yonko commander level'' just like there is no ''Shichibukai level'', the power level changes a lot inside that groups.

Secondly,



Oden was known as WB's 2nd division commander and they kept that 2nd division ready for years just in case if Oden returns.

Saying like Oden can't be Yonko commander just because he is too strong is saying like, Yami Teach, Mihawk or Kuma are too strong so they weren't Shichibukai.

Agreed, people just stuck on downplaying him because they hate Wano/Odens character and because it destroys their headcanon.

There is one canon tier list by Oda and in it Oden is equal to Roger/WB/Rocks/Shanks. Yet of all the five only Oden is downplayed. It is the height of hypocrisy fueled by headcanon based agenda and people who do this are the most shameless peices of shit.

The truth is that Ray was and will always be Rogers partner, they were similar age

Oden was younger than WB like 10+ years I think, he is same age as Kaido. Hence he was not partner to either WB or Roger.

But the thing that set him apart from others is that the members of WBPs were referred to generally as WBs sons (we dont know what was his relationship with older members or Whitey Bay etc.), but for Oden WB referred to him as little brother.

And while many shit on Roger for begging WB for Oden, what they ignore is that Oden himself wanted to join the Roger pirates. Roger had the same ability that Mihawk called the most dangerous, being able to turn enemies into allies or neutrals into his allies. And Roger did just that by poaching his rival's RHM/partner/brother.

The reason Roger became PK was because of this exact ability and why none have been able to replicate it since. Look at how some other great pirates have tried to poach the RHMs of other great pirates/Yonko and what they got in return.

Shanks asked Marco and Marco rejected (twice, once when WB was alive and once after Wano)
BM asked King and he rejected her
WB never tried on panel
Kaidos method was different, beating into submission
Nobody wanted Kata probably
BB is doing it in his way where everybody joins him but with their own purpose (he is selling a dream and he has probably gotten closest in this regard to Roger by getting Aokiji to join his crew, Shiryu did of his own volition)
Luffy wont be shown doing it to another crews RHM I think, his whole thing is already like this

Probably a more dedicated fan will make a detailed thread on the above material

Why was Oden in Kaido’s top 5 then? Cause these are the strongest 5 characters in the show; they’re the ceiling Luffy has to overcome

I agree that Shanks and Oden are not stronger than Mihawk, but they’re not levels below him and imo Rocks, Roger, WB, Garp, Shanks, Mihawk and Oden are all around the same level
