Yes. I agree with your point but its pis imo. Kaido has lots of advantages fighting in base over dragon form as well as wounded kaido attack which k.o.ed oden is more powerful than boro breath which oden tanked without too many problems. Divine thunder from healthy kaido is more powerful.
Kaido should have been able to beat oden in his hybrid.
Its like luffy fears/has ptsd of a character who defeated luffy while in his base mode but luffy could have won against them using g4

its pis because oda ideally would have shown kaido going all out but he wouldnt want to spoil his hybrid form . why tf would he have ptsd of man who bested him in quote on quote "his weakest form".
this is the point where power-scaling and story takes an odd turn .
regardless of how oda drew that fight
oden was supposed to look better and the manifestation of that is kaido fearing anything oden related.
katakuri luffy was another good example , no matter how much people cried at the end of the fight luffy was still much weaker because of how oda portrayed both parties in the fight , katakuri seems to think they are quite equal .

Look Jack, dude is soo dumb(yes most like not his fault though, it was Oda who didn´t let him use it) that he didn´t use hybrid against the Dukes in zou for 5days wtf...
He fight with Base form and they fight equal, yet he didn´t use his strongest form who should be above his base who was already enough to deal with the dukes? With hybrid form Jack would win back then in zou without using that gas shit. I don´t want even speak about if awakened zoan give your a third form, would only mean Jack didn´t use his awakened form too back then...

One slash from Oden was better then all attack combinate from all Scabbards+Supernova, just compare the panels how Kaido look after the slash and how he having fun right now:
it wasn´t like Oden was to weak to push Kaido into hybrid, it was more the fight was cut of before it go all out, Oden was easily equal to Kaido and his Ap is beyond from these of the Scaabbards and SN right now.

Oda just wanted to end the battle quick do he didnt make Oden fight base kaido in that war.
What matters is that Oda portrayed Oden as someone who can fight base kaido equally.
Hybrid kaido > Oden. That's it.
Just like Oda doesn't care if Katakuri is better at anything except endurance... he will have Katakuri view Luffy as equal even tho kata discards awakening and mogura...matches snakeman easily.
