There were definitely threads on /b/ and on /pol/ that definitely bordered on illegal territory. People got to see some really fucked up shit from time to time (Ukranian war/gore footage) and lurkers would happily post in these threads + post more of these pics.

I'm not so sure about that. A lot of Zoomers were on /pol/ as little tykes fighting the "woke feminist left" (Harassing Anita Sarkeesian) and being indoctrinated into actual honest to god nazis around gamergate.
