last time I checked BG was even superior to the ANCIENT GUN, with strike power so devastating and on such a scale that its reverberations were felt over 1000 miles away. It's almost 1/4 the radius of the Earth. Such a damn power. (Grade 1 Evidence).

With all or at least the majority of the blows that Kaidou received being:

And obviously, while Kaidou was fighting and enduring all these blows, he was still carrying the burden of the island, which consumed part of his stamina as discussed in the topic.

Now let's move to the main question, even after the Monkey God Gun struck Kaidou and we thought it was the end for him, Kaidou still displayed resilience and signs of being conscious after the attack. The evidence is listed below (Excluding the flashback he had during the descent to the underground):

What you need to notice is:
  • During the fall into the magma, Kaidou landed in a different position with his palms open.
  • In the second panel, Kaidou is shown facing upwards and with his fists clenched. If previously his palms were open, he made a movement to close them and thus clenched his fists.

Ulti took a lethal attack from Big Mom and was knocked out, but she managed to recover. Even if Kaidou is knocked out, given enough time, he can recover. However, we have three hypotheses:

  • The volcanic eruption could have been caused by Kaidou and his anger.
  • Kaidou still had a splash of consciousness after Luffy's attack, meaning that even during his fall into the depths of the earth, Kaidou was still experiencing flashbacks.
  • The volcanic eruption can be considered an external factor that contributed to Kaidou's permanent defeat and effectively sealed any possible chance of him returning to fight against Luffy again.

I think that the third option makes sense, since it was said that the eruption of the volcano signaled the end of Kaido's reign, which would imply simply being trapped inside the magma chamber might not had been enough, given he could engulf himself in magma-like fire. It took an island sized outburst into the skies to get rid of a Kaido who already reached his absolute limits. And even then we don't know what happened to Kaido, he might be still alive, simply not returning to Wano due to accepting defeat, even though that defeat wasn't in a fair 1 on 1, Kaido doesn't accept excuses.Which is essentially the reasoning of @comrade and I agree with him. We could add that besides Luffy's attack, we had another extra factor, similar to the bombs in the confrontation against Big Mom, against Kaidou here. LOL

The volcanic eruption could have actually saved both of the Kaido and Big Mom ,last time we saw there sillouettes the where in the magmapool ,and on the next page the volcano erupted .
They could also be blasted out by the eruption to an different location .

My man, I'm not arguing about whether Kaidou is dead or if he will appear again in the storyline. LOL
From what I've seen of Luffy's previous opponents, none of them clenched their fists after the final attack like Kaidou did. LOL

see this is why i love the op communnity/oda this small attention to detail is insane...I have never noticed the open hands at the end of luffy victories kaido clutching his fist is more than enough for me my man will be back hopefully the anime notices this
