Speculations One Piece Cannot Be Powerscaled

#1
1) Pre-timeskip people said One Piece couldn't be powerscaled because it uses abilities that were so random it always depended on who was the most creative with their ability.

2) Post-timeskip people said One Piece could be powerscaled because it introduced the concept of Haki and they believed that Haki could be powerscaled.

I have news for everybody, Haki can't be powerscaled. All three types of Haki are fundamentally based on spiritual superpositions.

Armament Haki is based on extending life force to weaponized body parts or weapons, Observation Haki is based on extending senses, and Conqueror's Haki is will imposed on others based on dreams and the will to achieve them.

All of that is bullshit lol none of it can actually be scaled because they're all just forms of probability that are always in a state of ambiguity.

If they thought pre-timeskip was a rock-paper-scissors formula because Devil Fruits "countered each other" then they're out of their minds to think Haki is any different. It's the same thing- somebody who holds a superior superposition in any of those categories can suddenly beat the other ones.

There is no manga that cant be powerscalled. If there are powerscalling incoherence it mean the system is simply flawed.
This powerscaling matrix is fundamentally in multiple states.

It's more fun. You can't tell me less is more.

But... Strictly speaking

If someone knows something like "adcoc" which is what I consider a combination of Conqueror's Haki and Armament Haki, then that person uses a superposition above most others. Kaido refers to this by saying only a few people in the world can do it.

If you must, you can scale based on superposition hierarchy. In fact, my powerscaling metrics actually do have a hierarchy to them.

Unfortunately, that hierarchy is highly volatile. It can change abruptly. That's what I mean by it's not exactly a fixed definition as it changes depending on the variables involved.

Ok, no more powerscaling from here on out.
You can try it.

I just suggest it's not going to work out properly because in almost every case in the fights in this story somebody wins because they reveal a new superposition.

If everybody wins because they're inventing an entirely new variable in the fight, then it's not truly a system that can be powerscaled. You can't powerscale an innovation that happens on the spot. It's like guessing a lightning strike or the damn lottery.

Well, I do believe there’s a distinction between scaling main characters and scaling side characters. With the Straw Hats, you can’t really pinpoint their exact level relative to anyone outside of the crew. Among themselves, however, there is an established hierarchy.

What we can know for a fact is that Zoro and Sanji are in the realm of the top Yonko subordinates, since their best wins have been against characters at that level. Outside of that, it’s all just speculation, but that’s where powerscaling comes into play. At least for most people, that’s the entertaining part of it.

I like how you pointed to Yonko subordinates.
- Zoro defeated King by having a breakthrough on the spot. By powerscaling standards, that shouldn't have happened. The same thing is true with Luffy, he shouldn't have been able to beat Kaido, but he did because he had a breakthrough on the spot.

Yeah, that’s what I mean when I say “outside of the crew.” But powerscaling among those who engage in it is usually understood to be speculative. Each side brings their arguments using feats, portrayal, narrative, etc, but that’s essentially what powerscaling is. So, I don’t agree that One Piece can’t be powerscaled. It can, like any other battle Shonen. It just has to be understood that Oda ultimately doesn’t adhere to any strict rules. Characters are given the means to achieve victory for reasons that don’t always align with strict scaling.

I think you're trying to frame powerscaling like it's an estimation (a guess) based on feats, portrayal, narrative (I'm not sure what else you might mean).

1) That defies powerscaling by default. It's not speculative, it's intended to be definitive. It intends to define a conclusive outcome.

2) I would argue feats, portrayal, and narrative are all in superpositions by default as well. Feats can be influenced by breakthroughs mid-fight, portrayal can change dynamically, and narrative occurs on a whim.

Narrative especially shouldn't be considered in powerscaling traditionally because it's essentially "plot armor". If a character can have a narrative to a versus battle, suddenly they can become invulnerable due to plot.

Not exactly. Power scaling is a speculative form of analysis that can be grounded in conclusive facts, but its conclusions often depend on inference/interpretation. That's how it's understood by the people who engage in it. The only final thing in scaling is when the author makes a statement or draws a clear victor, outside of that it's up for debate.

I say we appeal to the crowd itself.

Is that how you other guys define powerscaling?

"its conclusions often depend on interference/interpretation"

That sounds pretty wishy washy to me.

I appreciate your input, but I don't think it is correct.
