Well, if Kaido has several hybrid forms, just like Lucci and Chopper, it kind of makes sense why Hybrid Kaido's design is like that.
It's probably just his 'allrounder' form or something like that imo.

I miss the days where we saw Lucci’s hybrid form pulling off dozens of techniques before he ever transformed into a base leopard.

Now in Wano, we’ve had hundreds of chapters of boring animal forms, and Kaido’s hybrid form looks so lame that our only hope is to hope that Kaido has other hybrid forms that are cooler than this one.

Let’s go over the Scabbards roles for the rest of the arc.

Ashura’s big moment was saving the Scabbards from Fake Oden. He got stabbed and then caught in an explosion, so he’s probably done for the rest of the arc.
Inuarashi is busy with Jack and will likely be defeated.
Nekomamushi might go back to help Inu and might also get defeated, or they both win together.
Raizo will fight Fukurokuju since they’re rivals.
Kinemon will likely fight Kanjuro.
Maybe Denjiro will play a part in cutting down Orochi since he holds a grudge against him, but Denjiro, Kawamatsu, Izo, Kiku, and maybe Neko could also fight the 5 remaining Numbers
