The Japanese term for dinosaurs, Kyoryu (恐竜) contains the Kanji for Ryu (竜), which means dragon. In Japanese, the term for dinosaurs literally translates as Scary Dragons afaik.

Which is why Oda made the decision to go with the Ryu genus to classify the Dino fruits. Because why the heck should he introduce a term which is foreign to his core fanbase/audience just to stay consistent with western terminology? Viz translators have no right to change the terms in the manga as well.

Dinosaurs are obviously not Dragons lmao.
