Then you and the rest of the Moderators should start overseeing those sorry SOBs in this forum in a much stricter manner. What I noticed here since joining is the obvious lack of keeping tabs with its members. Insults, spamming, trolling, all of those happen and no one who is in authority is doing a damn thing.
That's a terrible idea. What you just mentioned is actually the best thing about this forum in comparison to many others.
It's not right for mods to interfere with people's discussions, be it by deleting posts, editing them, blocking users, or locking a thread while at the same time trying to educate a user anyhow. It's okay if they want to argue against something that someone said in a thread, of course, but they should do it just like any regular user does, and not while abusing their mod power to lock the thread so that they can make sure to have the last word.
Of course, I'm not against moderation in a forum, but it should be done just to deal with things like gore, pornography, spamming, and falsification of people's quotes, for example, and never to reject people's views on a matter and how they choose to argue while discussing,
that's because the mods are biased and only delete insults/extremism posts when it's about a topic they personally care about.
So what do you propose as a solution?
Should they delete posts that you
personally consider as insults/"extremism" and care about instead?
Especially because of the woke stuff nowadays, I'm glad that, at least from what I have seen, the mods in this site keep moderation to a minimum, and allow people to insult each other.
The problem of starting to prohibit insults is that people, including mods, are not perfect and can make mistakes of judgement, judging something as offensive even when it may actually be just the truth, that just seems to be offensive to someone who perceives a lie as if it were common sense.
And then it becomes much harder to have a proper discussion about anything, as people are unable to write things just because they may seem offensive to someone else.
There's already an option to ignore users whose posts you don't like in the forum, so there's no reason to delete people's posts just because someone is perceiving it as an insult/"extremism"/trolling, regardless of whether or not such perception is correct.
