Kaido said luffy gear 5 fuse acoc in his base even when we were not seing it he was using acoc so he did use it vs lucci .

When ever luffy used it in base or gear 2 , 3 or 4 we saw it , in gear 5 we also could tell when he was using ACoC.
It was ACoA that it look like he was not using it some times but Kaido mention it .

Don't really see how he was screwing Kaido over since Kaido was able to deal with gear 5 rather easy .
The man was countering luffy even with gear 5 and had no problem .
it 's him being prideful and saying he going to try and take on a island size attack that fuck him .
Even awakening won't have matter then since it was battle of wills .
